She has 936 career points with at least 6 games left in the season and pretty likely nine-plus games.
Scoring at her current career average (16.1ppg) will put her at or seriously pushing 1,200 points going into her junior season. Simply amazing.
Outstanding job Lauren and the rest of the Falcons!! ROLL ALONG!

24, I can say with a lot of certainty that there won't be a backlash if we get into the Top 25. Curt is very respected throughout the coaching community, and has a lot of appreciation from the people that know womens basketball. The only people that would have a problem are those that don't know women's basketball. I do see part of the problem with our schedule though. Now that Curt has established himself and the program and a yearly 20 win team, he needs to try and get a couple more games in the nonconference against other mid-major top tier teams. Middle Tennessee, Marist, top C-USA teams, WAC top teams. A couple of those in weeks two through four or five would be good for our overall outlook. that is what is going to get us more talk from those that don't know. When it comes to the tournament, they are going to look at that nonconference and decide to take a middle of the pack Big 12 or Big East team before taking us. They are going to be more willing to take an LSU team that might only be .500 in conference before us also. But the women's basketball world will not turn over because we would get into the top 25.
I thought this was way off when I saw it posted...then, I checked out the records...and my memory was (for once) correct...Francine Miller was the last one of four players to hold the record. Don't honestly think that Kate was even close to that, but I could be wrong as I haven't checked it out.

# NC State tops No. 15 UVa for emotional win
# LSU hands No. 11 Florida second straight loss
# Connecticut races past Pittsburgh in rout
# Bonner's 25 help Auburn to rare 25-win season
# Ohio State wins, regains share of Big Ten lead
# Maryland stays hot with victory vs. Rutgers
# North Carolina breaks away from Georgia Tech
# No. 14 Texas rallies back vs. No. 20 Iowa State
# Sweat, Childs help K-State edge Oklahoma St.
# Balanced effort pulls Vanderbilt past Georgia
What the hell do we have to do to get an ounce of national attention?
I know we are only a MAC program, but with our recent success, we don't really deserve this continual snubbing!

For what it's worth, there wasn't even an article in the PD this morning...I could see the guy's game, being late and all...but why there wasn't even a brief write up on the girls is beyond me...unless our SID, or whomever is in charge of getting out the press releases, game summaries etc. isn't doing the job.

Houston, you make good points, but , if I recall correctly, the 'sweet 16' team had a somewhat watered down schedule when they were young. Curt has constantly referred to this as a "rebuilding" year. His thinking may have been the same as back 4 yrs ago... schedule tougher as the kids get more experience, especially in "big" games... perhaps then, we'll see the rankings that many believe the ladies deserve.

Another thing about the schedule is I remember Curt saying when it was released he was upset he couldn't get any bigger names on there. The only drawback of the Sweet 16 run is bigger schools not wanting to face us and potentially get a loss. I agree with the idea of trying to get the top mid-major programs for games, that always helps as well.
61, when the Sweet 16 team was young, the schedule was watered down because the program wasn't really tested and proven to be as successful as it has been either. Now that we know what this program is capable of on a year in and year out basis, I'm sure Curt would love to try and get a few more top tier mid majors on the schedule. I don't think that it would be bad to try and get a program that is constantly a mid to lower Top 25 team either. I can't say enough how amazed I am with what Curt has done. I have worked with two coaches since being at the current school I am at. The first coach was a great guy, had the potential to be a pretty good coach, but didn't put the time in to be as successful as he could have which was frustrating. This year we went through a coaching change, and the current guy doesn't know how to develop players because he doesn't know how to communicate with them. It's never his fault when something goes wrong, it's always the players, and he doesn't know how to communicate with his staff. I have more admiration for Curt Miller and what he has been able to accomplish, and watching him and the staff for the first time last year live at the WNIT game I was so impressed with how they work together. I have seen many coaching staffs work, and they did one of the best jobs I have seen.
But with all of that being said, I know we have a young team. That doesn't mean you have to sacrifice all of your scheduling to slowly bring them along. Tennessee and LSU have younger teams than we do, and they scheduled almost the same as they normally do. I know they get better players at those two schools, and Van will tell you that he probably overscheduled this year, but you can't water down the schedule just because you are young. For us to be considered year in and year out as one of those teams to keep your eye on, you have to keep making waves, and part of that is by scheduling. Mid level Big Ten teams, and top level Mid Major teams are the way to go for this program now. As this year is concerned, just keep winning. This team is a success, no matter what happens from here on out. They have pretty much guaranteed themselves another WNIT berth, all they have to do is keep winning now, and win the conference tournament. Roll Along!
