Prochaska goes to Poland

Lauren will have another shot at the pros as she goes to Poland for Euro-Basket. It also seems that for NIU player Stephanie Raymond is on this team. I know that many former Falcons who go oversees generally do not stay long (Kate Achter in Greece and Ali Mann somewhere in Latin America). The experience is very different, both culturally and on the court (crowds are much more rowdy, for example.) But maybe having another former MAC player on this squad will make Lauren's experience better.

Also, while Lauren was waived from the Seattle Storm earlier this year, perhaps this pro experience will give her another shot. She did very well at the Storm training camp, and survived the first round of cuts they made at the camp. Maybe she'll get another training camp invite if she is successful in Poland :D

Ali Mann played last year in Portugal. Had a very successful season. She played earlier in the Netherlands & then in Portugal in the same year. She is ready to go on with her life. She is now an assistant coach at Colgate. Lauren will hopefully do well in Poland. Who knows how long she will play. I too hope she gets another shot at the WNBA. She certainly has the talent. Someone will probably give her a look if that is what she wants.

My daughter spent about 2 years in Poland teaching English, but also learned to speak Polish. Lauren is going to play for a team in Lodz. Lodz is pronounced: Lo is woo (rhymes with boo). dz is pronounced dj. So you have woodj. My daughter said Lodz is not the prettiest city.

My wife and I visited Poland. Krakow is a great city to visit.

Lodz is one of many great cities in Poland. I lived in Torun a couple hours North of Lodz in 2008. Great experience. So much to see and do.

Not compared to Krakow, Gdansk or Torun but still very historic with lots to see.

Good luck to Lauren. I spent a few days in Poland. Loved driving through the countryside...reminded me of home. Visited Auschwitz, a must see for anyone who travels over there.

Btw, Toledo's Melissa Goodall signed with a team in Spain. I know you guys care...;)

Gotta say that I'm a Falcons Fan first, but happy for any of our MAC players that have a post-college career.

For that matter if it weren't for the meanness and poor sportsmanship of the Blue Crew, I might even think that Toledo fans were decent people. I believe that Freddie and Frieda Falcon and our SicSic promote spirit for BGSU specifically and each game generally, being polite to the fans of the opposing team. So many other so-called spirit groups, and I'm including the Blue Crew, are downright rude to their opponents' fans when we visit. They'll make typical politicians: too busy putting down the other guy to show what they have on their own.

YAY MAC!
YAY BGSU!
YAY LAUREN!
Congrats to Toledo's Melissa Goodall!

(I just can't remember if she was one of those players that kept throwing elbows and couldn't keep her hands off our team players.)

Its been awhile but I recall Freddie getting kicked out of a UT game (and nearly arrested) when he pulled out a toy revolver and ran towards a UT player who was preparing to shoot free throws. Police quickly tackled him and took the gun, escorting him out. Blue Crew is OK in my book- never seen an example of poor sportsmanship and I've seen plenty of the other kind. Not saying it can't happen but hey, its a rivalry-we all think the other guys are poor sports.

OK, then I guess h2oville rocket wasn't at MAC women's basketball tournament last year. Blue Crew came in before the end of the BG v CMU game. They held up signs BG S----. I'll leave it the imagination as what it said. The MAC officials made them turn them down. I have had encounters in the past with them as well. None have been positive. True Blue on the other hand are pretty repectful. I understand it is a rivalry, but sometimes it goes too far. If it weren't for some Toledo fans, maybe I could root for the UT women.

So it must be tough for you to root for BG now knowing that Freddie pulled a gun out and pretended to shoot a UT player? Please. If BC did that it was childish- so was Freddie's thing- but to pretend that UT's bad fans are somehow worse than BG's or anyone else's is laughable- people are people. Sheesh.

Yes, and a**holes are a**holes, including our own crazed fan who got booted from the UT game this year for mooning the Toledo bench and fans, (from the other side of the court!!!). I wasn't aware of the Freddie incident, but would expect better sportsmanship from our mascots and spirit crews in the MAC.

Back to the original topic of this thread:

Lauren: gratulacje. Jesteś najlepszych.

Melissa: Buena suerte.

(I still can't remember if she was one of the ones who kept throwing elbows and couldn't keep her hands off our team or their shirts.)

Well, she's 6'2" and has long, curly red hair. Fairly memorable. She definitely mixed it up at times. Put up 15 points and seven rebounds at BG this year. Apparently BG players weren't getting their hands on her enough.

Can't remember which game that was- I assume you mean the game that clinched the MAC championship for UT- might have been the Central Michigan game. As you know there IS no MAC Championship game but I think that was the clincher. I could look up her stats- they were pretty good.... \:D/
