From the video feed, it looked like Ogle was in street clothes. Was she? Is she hurt?

I knew it wouldn't happen, but I was secretly hoping that Curt and Jodi would join forces and both earn a T while telling the refs what they thought of the calls. There are fans who will always think that any call against their team is unfair, but the Zips fans in our section also thought both teams had more than their fair share of unfair calls made against them.

My personal "favorite" was when the Zip was elbow linked with Alexis. Alexis more or less threw her arms to be released and ... got the foul called on her. There were several of their players who just couldn't keep their hands off ours. I'm not saying that I didn't see some falcon elbows fly here and there, but more often than not it was to retrieve the personal space the Zip was violating.

With the quantity and frequency one of the refs called fouls, I figured he'd just learned the hand sign for "foul". By next game he officiates in, he will have learned the sign for "travel" and be calling travels left and right. (That's supposed to be a bad joke.)

My two favorites is when we were called for a charge by two referees that were closest to the play, however the guy all the way at half court comes in and says true Akron players feet were within the restricted arch. Wow, talk about some super long distance vision. Also the play late in the game when two refs called a jump ball, which would have been Akron's ball. However the ref closest to the BG bench awarded BG a timeout. Once again super xray glasses. There is no why he could see when the ball was actually tied up. Jodi had every right to complain about either one of these calls. Oddly enough, BG made both free throws on the foul and scored after the jump ball/time out call. Those 4 points = ballgame.

Interesting that you use those 2 calls to criticize the officials, when I thought those were the 2 times that they were at their best. I say that because they conferred on those calls and made sure they got the right call. The female official that awarded the timeout to BG was the only official that would have heard Coach Miller asking for the TO. She was definately doing the right thing to go and confer with the other officials to make sure they got the call right. This is what a good officiating crew should do...rely on each other to share what each saw, and if one official saw the call another way, go and confer. If the 2 officials nearer to the play believed they were 100% correct, they would have/should have upheld their calls...I see this all of the time, too.

Face it, there were many interesting calls in this game. I don't think you can pick out any 1 or 2 and say they decided the game.

I was just pointing out that those two calls turned the game. Two minutes later what looked like a similar play was called a charge on us when I thought the defender was in the exact place as the previous call. Most calls are judgement calls and can go either way, I am just glad they went our way. I am just glad they haven't messed up the sport and go to instant replay.

Both teams had to play with the same officials...I thought a couple of the charging calls on BG were BS but find a way to play through it. And we did. Akron got hosed on a couple as well.

I knew this would be a tough game cuz Akron matches up well with BG. I don't want to see Akron or the tsun unless it would be the Tourney title game. On to OU...

BG, Toledo, and EMU already locked up top 3 seeds so as long as BG stays the #1 seed its impossible for BG to face them until the finals. I am thinking BG will probably face Akron or CMU in the semis

I don't want to see either one :o CMU almost beat us without their three top scorers. Of course, that was at their home court; we'll have a great advantage at the Q because our fans travel well. On the other hand, Akron is a tough matchup for us, and I'm not sure we can walk away a third time against them.

But, I'm optimistic about the MAC tournament this year, maybe more than other years. This team has proven that even on bad shooting nights, or nights of sloppy execution and turnovers, they are still determined enough defensively to finish games. They can find ways to win.

Man, everybody's writing off the Redhawks...they've basically got a vicegrip on the #4 seed. They would be our most likely opponent in the semifinal round assuming we finish #1.

Miami really struggles on the road. Plus playing them twice in 10 days would be a plus. But that's if Miami makes it out of the semis. 5 more straight wins and we then are dancing. 11 straight for the National Championship. Got to dream big.
