BiG Gift for the Women's program!!!!

A long-time Bowling Green State University women’s basketball fan is doing her part to ensure that the team’s success continues. Diane Tymiak is making a gift of $250,000 – the largest gift in the history of the program – to the women’s basketball program.

Tymiak will be recognized at halftime of Saturday afternoon’s women’s basketball game against Miami University at the Stroh Center. The game begins at 1:00 p.m.

“The women's basketball program at BGSU holds a special place in my heart and I have watched games for over twenty years,” said Tymiak. “It has a rich tradition of excellence, both on and off the court, and Curt Miller and his great staff have continued to up the bar every year. Hopefully, this gift will help our program to achieve even greater heights.

“I look forward to watching Curt, his staff and our amazing team for many years.”

This gift continues a long-time commitment from Tymiak to the program. She established an endowment to the program five years ago.

“Diane has been a true champion for Falcon women’s basketball since she was a student at BGSU,” said BGSU Director of Athletics Greg Christopher. “She is part of a small group that is the foundation of our program. This gift will build the existing endowment she began and will also provide immediate funds so Curt and our team can elevate to a new level.

“Diane is an important member of our women’s basketball family. On behalf of everyone associated with BGSU Athletics, we thank Diane for her tremendous generosity.”

Miller and the Falcons have clinched a tie for the 2012 MAC East Division title, marking the eighth consecutive year that BGSU has won some sort of conference regular-season crown. BG won the outright regular-season title in each of six-straight years between 2005-10, and the Falcons captured the East Division crown last season.

BGSU has won 13 regular-season titles and 11 MAC Tournament championships, the highest totals of any conference institution. The Falcons have an all-time record of 360-146 (.711) in MAC regular-season games, for the most wins and highest winning percentage among all league schools.

What a selfless and very generous donation. Thank you Diane! Well deserved respect from the Falcon faithful in the Stroh this afternoon too, got a standing ovation from pretty much everybody.
