After BG getting snubbed two of the last four years and Toledo getting the shift the other two years maybe it's time to restructure the MAC Tournament to protect the #1 seed and conference champion. Many on this site, including myself feel the Automatic Bid should go to the conference champion who wins the league rather than the tournament champ, including myself. 30 overall games including 18 conference games shows a true champion rather than a team getting hot for one week. We'll we know the reason why this wouldn't happen. Only one league uses it'd regular reason champ and everyone else has conference tournaments. MONEY MONEY MONEY. Show me the money. The conference wants tournaments for financial gain.
So here is my suggestion. Have a 10 team conference tournament. The bottom two teams do not qualify. The top 2 seeds get byes directly to the semi and the finals. The other 8 teams play 3 rounds of games to get down to 1 team. That winner then plays the #2 in the semi finals with the winner then playing the regular season champion. Also, the conference must allow additional practice time on the court for the #1 and #2 seeds. If the conference doesn't want to make the regular reason champ the automatic qualifier because of financial reasons at least make it even easier. And this way you still give hope to the majority of the conference.

Re: The NEW MAC Tournament format
I understand where you're coming from,,, but you have to think about this...currently, we get...what...eight teams to come to Cleve. to play at the Q....what you're proposing sounds like only about FOUR teams at most would get there...like it or not, tournaments are still based on bucks....(and I don't meant OSwho). Hotels, restaurants etc. also benefit from more teams in town etc. And it still sounds as if the #1 and #2 teams would wind up with less practice time than the others.
The League REGULAR SEASON CHAMPION should get the automatic bid...and if somebody, like BSU, gets super hot and goes all the way thru, then MAYBE we'd see another team in the dance...but don't hold your breath on that one either...NCAA would just say something like, " yeah, but what did they do during the whole season?"
