Before and After Donovan's Injury

Post by fredthefalcon »

Stat guy that I am, I was wondering what the fall-off in Stats for the Falcon Women was since Donovan and Webb went down. So according to the BG stat page, the WL records is of course 3-8 since that day. Per game scoring was 62.8 before and is 55.5 after. Opponent scoring was 54.8 before and 62.5 after. Shooting is down from .370 to .359, not huge and likely only amounting to 1-2 points a game. FT % has been consistently excellent throughout the year. Rebounds are off big time. Before was 39.2 ppg and are now only 31.4. I thought assists might have been off as well but the drop is less than 1/2 an assist per game. Turnovers are up at the same time by .6 ppg. So combining the two results in a drop off in the TO/Assist ratio analysis. Conclusion: This is not shocking-they really miss Donovan. I assume Leadership, shooting, defense, and particularly rebounding. The latter is also later effected by Siefker's injury. All in all, this season remains one that gives valuable experience to the remaining underclassmen who likely would have seen more pine time without the injury bug.

It's tough to take but will pay dividends down the road. We are so used to winning a lot and to see the team struggle isn't fun but this team has grit and never quits.
