We get the ponies on our floor tonight and IIRC, we lost by 29 at their house a month ago. I hope payback is on the menu.
Our all time record in MAC games is 396-175...8 games left in the regular season and it would be great to get to 400!

And another double digit loss. Started out promising but fizzled after halftime

Re: BG/WMU
So the starters come out in the second half and get outscored eight or nine to nothing, Roos pulls the starters and the subs tie up the game, then the starters come back in and give up another 6 points. Game Over.
This pick and roll crap is great when your players aren't shooting 2-12 or 1-8, but it's a contrast to see 4 of 5 WMU starters LOOKING to score and looking for the ball in the paint on rebounds. Our shooters just push the ball at the basket and run down to defend instead of following their shots. They pretty much were outhustled in all aspects of the game. I guess that's why we only scored 49 points. This team finds a different way to lose each game.

Re: BG/WMU
Roos questioned the effort the women gave last night, tells me the players are both quitting on the season and their coach.

Re: BG/WMU
I agree, jpfalcon09, about the effort factor. But what if our team is just not talented enough to compete at this level? Do we have enough talented post players to impose their will in the paint like WMU did last night? Is our team loaded with great shooters who can score anywhere on the floor? Do we have an offensive mindset where we do far more than take what the defense gives us, but forces them to try and stop us? Are we so scrappy on defense that we can consistently get stops and transition our offense off of steals to bump our stats on points off turnovers? The answer to all these questions is "ABSOLUTELY NOT!" It seems to me the only goals we set for this season was to improve on last season. The big problem is that I believe everyone, our coaches, our players, and our fans, come into each game hoping to win. There was a day when we expected it, we looked forward to it, and we usually GOT IT! I think most of us here, after the last two seasons, have had very low expectations when we come to each game. As I've said before, it all starts at the top. I believe Coach Roos and her staff have dropped the ball when it comes to maintaining an elite mid-major basketball program. We, as the BGSU Women's Basketball community, have accepted what is unacceptable. Our expectations, as a team, have faltered, and so has our performance. I can see where our recruiting has declined as well. We've landed quite a few one-dimensionally talented high school players whose skills have peaked even before setting foot in the Stroh for the first time. I'm figuring Lambert and Santoro are talented enough to improve immensely over the next few years, but if the coaching staff is not doing what it takes to maximize their improvement, their career stats will be far below what they could be. Again, if we want different results, we're going to have to make some changes. We need more high expectations, better results, fundamental soundness, better MULTI-DIMENTIONAL players, drive, toughness, passion, resolve, and a never-ending desire for excellence! And it will all add up to WINS. And Coach Roos & Company still has time to turn the ship around, otherwise she'll be in danger of letting her own shot clock expire! Just my honest opinion!

Re: BG/WMU
I'd be starting Santoro until she got into foul trouble. She's scrappy and can handle the ball and follows her shots. Let Myers be the first sub and Puk the 2nd. Abbie played like she was on fire last night, so give her the first sub for Tunstal and Tibbs.
We have way too many players just going through the motions here. Last year it was because the 7 players were "tired". This year, they started tired or something. There just doesn't seem to be any motivation. Perhaps the coach starting the same 5 players all season gives those players a sense of security. I'd rather watch a game where the players were fighting instead of just running up and down the court. It's starting to look like the reign of Louis Orr.

Re: BG/WMU
I agree, but if motivation is lacking then that's ultimately on the coaches for not putting the ladies in the best possible position to succeed. I can understand if there's some frustration for all parties involved given the way the past two seasons have gone, but as John Taffer says, it's time to embrace solutions and not excuses. Roos likely isn't going anywhere soon as she's signed through 2019 and has a good rapport with CK, alumni and the community, so perhaps there needs to be some honest discussions among the coaching staff to see if they are indeed doing their best and getting the best players possible for the program.HoopsFan wrote:I'd be starting Santoro until she got into foul trouble. I don't believe John Taffer would say it like that. I believe he would say (with a vein bulging from his forehead and his beady eyes bugging out)-jpfalcon09 wrote:... but as John Taffer says, it's time to embrace solutions and not excuses.
