Re: BG at Akron...
Don't expect a miracle comeback. 4th quarter media timeout and Akron has stretched the lead to 18.
Wow, I'll be very glad when this train wreck season is over.

Looks like BG will either play Buffalo or Northern and I believe NIU won that tie breaker so it should be BG vs Buffalo

Off to Buffalo
Re: BG at Akron...
Nothing has changed for BGSU in their style of play versus Akron. On defense, we gave up easy shots inside the paint and behind the arc, all game long. Our oppents seem to make very few mid-range jumpers, just layups and threes. All our opponents know our offense inside and out, especially Jodi Kest, so defending our offensive sets has gotten pretty standard since we don't ever run different offensive schemes. Turnovers, illegal screens, and sub-standard free throw shooting continues to be an ongoing problem. We have not improved, offensively or defensively, from the onset of the season. I firmly believe it's ALL due to lack of player development, or individual coaching. Either the coaches aren't pushing the players hard enough, or the players don't have enough intestinal fortitude to improve their own abilities. We'll see what happens next season, and if anything changes.

Elmr, I stand by my comment made in early January. See below. Thinks have not changed one iota. We did upset E. Michigan but I had figured a likely split with Buffalo which did not happen. Otherwise no improvement unless shooting the 3's was hot for an extended period of the games. Just did not happen. As I believe Flipper said recently, unless most of the recruits are upgrades we are in a world of trouble next year as well. BTW Roos MAC coaching record is fast approaching .500.

I'm kind of like Elmr in that I analyze numbers and situations to draw a conclusion. Watch several games on the computer and also compare scores with our upcoming opponents. Other threads have said wait for the MAC season and then we will see what we have. Well the MAC season is here and I am not hopeful at all. At this time, I see a 16-18 loss season. There will be some upsets but outside of Miami and Kent and maybe N. Illinois , I'm not sure who we are better than. The remaining players (I believe Donovan was a Miller recruit) all are on the current staff. They generally have been slow to develop with the junior class really not contributing much at all. Most of the freshmen from last year , who received a ton of playing last season due to injuries, have regressed or are very inconsistent. We seem to recruit a lot of the same type of players from either small towns, suburban and private schools. The makeup of our team on a diversity basis is vastly different than the rest of the MAC. Right now BG has one non-white player, the average of all MAC WBB teams is 7-8 on the roster with 4 being the next lowest. We are quite the outlier in that regard. And I know many of Curt's team were similarly built but the current situation is not working well. It makes one wonder about the way this roster has been built. Thank goodness for Tibbs' availability as a 5th year student or the situation would be considerably bleaker. Regardless, I am hoping that the staff can garner more consistency in the team to at least prove my loss prediction overstated. A MAC title run does seem out of the question.
