BG vs Ball State

Post by gmartin »

Why I continue to watch this product I do not know. BG was up by 7 late in the first only to be done by 8 at half. 37-29. There is a certain senior that needs to have less minutes. Her play has drastically gotten worse over the years. Not going to list any names but when you have two turnovers back-to-back possessions and then follow by 2 fouls you need to sit. I don't care if you are a senior. 30% shooting and more turnovers than assists are not going to win you any games. I predicted two more wins on the season and let's see what happens the second half.

Wow. Now down by 18. Just watching the bench the players are not even watching the game. There's no energy. Players are just dribbling in circles and not passing the ball and then firing up 3's.

Now down by 27. This is beyond pathetic. Roos needs to be fired tonight or step down immediately. She has lost this team. The players on the bench are joking with each other and not even watching the game.

BG loses by 22. Your senior leader, goes 2 for 9 from the field, 5 turnovers and 4 fouls. Terrible ball movement and terrible coaching.

Moose, if you are reading this, be prepared for an email from me on Monday pulling my support of BGSU Athletics. At least until changes are made.

A contract extension after a 9-21 season. That's a total #TalonsUp move .

Yes, it was nothing done differently. Just more of the same, same result. Roos needs to own up to this teams failures in her post game interviews, as well as her coaching staff. What on earth are they doing to earn their salaries?! The team looks lost on the floor. Siefker had butterfingers and kept self-destructing all day, we try passing into Tunstall underneath when the defense has 6-8" of height advantage, numerous shot clock violations, no defense under the basket, etc., etc.! Roos has to know that disaster begins at opening tip-off. You cannot keep playing high school ball at the D1 level and expect to succeed. Under this coach, the only way for any player to improve is for them to put in the work on their own. They are not receiving much instruction, or discipline, for that matter, to help offset the team's shoddy play. Again, I believe that Andrea Cecil is one of the best players on the squad, and needs to start ahead of, and get more playing time, than Siefker. I do not care if Abby is a senior and Andrea is a freshman. Tenure is stupidity when your underclassmen far out-perform your seniors. This style of basketball is really getting old. Time for a change!

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that agrees about sitting Siefker and playing Cecil. We see that, why can't the coaches.

As much as I like Coach Roos, this simply isn't working. A change is probably needed...

I agree with the above posts. Abby started out playing great this year. Her mind clearly hasn't been in the game. She dropped a pass that was virtually handed to her today. She starts running the court and is usually now where near the ball for a rebound.

Andrea DEFINITELY should be starting. I like her effort and ability. I think she can be one of our best post players ever. I would even play Jane a lot more. She is putting in great effort. I think she has a lot of ability. She seems to be able to shoot from anywhere. She seems to be starting to assert herself more.

Ashley, Carly and Sydney just plays hard every game. I wish they wouldn't pass up so many open shots.

It's sad...Coach Roos is in her 5th year here..a time when you'd expect the program to be doing well but instead we're looking at the third straight season of struggling to even compete. Even during the Orr years the men's team was at least competitive in the MAC (until that last season anyway). Over the past 2+ years we're 9-34 in the MAC. That is simply not acceptable. A change must be made before the program falls off the face of the earth
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

The last two seasons were greatly impacted by injuries. Freshman post Lauren Webb and Junior Erica Donavan blew out their knees in the same game and were lost for the season. We were 6 -2 at the time. We later had 3 more season ending injuries before the end of that season. We finished that season with no post players, only 7 players on the roster including one volleyball player and a couple of those players were not in the best of shape. NO COACH, not even Coach Miller could have won that season. Remember that Erica Donavan was a preseason first team all MAC player and playing like a star.

Those injuries also impacted last season as Lauren Webb did not return to school from her injury weakening the current junior class. More impacting was that Erica Donavan never recovered from her injury and left the team. Without that one injury we have a potential all MAC player helping the team.

I admit that this season is frustrating, but I will continue to back Coach Roos and believe that she and her staff can turn it around.

I wonder how some of you would respond if people constantly discussing your job performance in public and on the internet.

To GMartin and other, if you are unhappy stay home. I have supported BG athletics for 41 years and will continue to support BG by attending as many games as possible both at BG and on the road.
