BG vs Miami

Post by gmartin »

I made the short drive down from Indianapolis for today's game. I'm sitting 4 rows behind the BG bench so I'll be able to hear and see what coaching our staff is doing. I'll also be able to get a close-up view of the attitude and body language of our players. I've only been to three games this year. Personally I don't think I cooking staff is doing enough. When you see it on ESPN3 the assistant coaches are not interacting whatsoever during the game. They only huddle up during the time outs. There are about 75% on this message board very critical of this program, including myself. There are also a few others who keep blaming youth as an excuse. Those same people's think that the coaching staff are coaching up the players but when you see no progress during the course of the year and the same mistakes made over and over that is due to lack of fundamentals in that comes back to coaching. I want to see first hand what are coaches are doing. I've tried writing letters. I talked to the AD. My family and I have stopped our donations and stop purchasing tickets. When a changes made will start donating again and going to the games. Pulling for a BG win today but I foresee a 15-point loss.

Not sitting as close as I would like because I forgot the tunnel is right behind the bench so I'm off to the side a few rows up. Offensively we are playing much better but where the heck is the defense. We gave up 30 points in the first quarter alone. No fire out of any of the coaches during the first quarter. Is Coach Roos legs broken. She must have been sitting down for 90% of the quarter. One of the assistants either had her phone out of a small tablet. Maybe she was playing angry birds. Down by 10 after 1st quarter.

And Roos lost her cool and picks up a technical. Completely lost the team. Players don't even care. Much more obvious in person than watching online. Pathetic. Inexcusable. Lethargic. Uninspiring performance.

92-64. gmartin, I've seen all the home games and most of the away games online. Get the point?

What a loser season and coach.

Lose by 28. We almost had them. Lol

Can't believe I wasted $12 on this mess today. Popcorn was the only good thing!!!

Congrats Coach Roos. With the loss today you secured the 11th seed!!! Maybe 12th if we lose to Akron next week. I'll let everyone else comment on today's game. I know what I seen in person. That's all I need to see.

I have watched every game online. This is my third game in person this year. I was called out a few weeks ago and was sent a rather nasty p.m. by a commentor on this board. This person kept using the excuse that we have a young team and the coaching staff is doing a decent job. Another person said that maybe I should attend a practice to see how the coaches actually do teach. Excuses excuses excuses. This team is uncoached, pathetic and just don't seem to care.

Totally agree with you gmartin. I’m done. No more supporting this team until Roos is gone. I’ve been a season ticket holder since Fran Vol started here. You have to draw a line somewhere! LINE DRAWN!!!!

After today's action BG is currently #6 seed. They would play the #6 Toledo Rockets in the tournament. Win that game and then play #3 Ball State whom only beat us by over 40. Win that and face #2 Buffalo...... and then CMU.

One thing that I noticed in this game was how BG had no answer for the superior passing game of Miami. Our only mode of defense was to foul, mainly because that’s the only defense we know. Granted, Puk and Perry had a few blocked shots, however we have little reaction time to quick passes or quick players. In other words, our defense is way too slow, and probably could not react well defensively even against a team from the local senior center. We still dribble way too much, likely because this coaching staff knows nothing about how to teach short, quick passes. Way too much standing around on offense. If Curt Miller were to watch these games, I’m sure he would just bow and shake his head in shame and disbelief. I’m tired of hearing Coach Roos giving credit to the opposition for how well they shot or how good they are, and how her team couldn’t dig their way out of the big holes they’ve gotten themselves into. She may as well bow in submission to all the opposing teams and tell them to go ahead and get the drubbing over with. There was a day when we held most of our opponents to fifty points or less. Now, we’re giving up eighty and ninety points in a game. Same coaching (or lack thereof), same mistakes, same habits, same results. Roos has done nothing to improve her team in the last four years, nor has she made any drastic changes to the status quo to get a different outcome. Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals!!! Oh, for a coaching staff that knows how to teach fundamentals. Honing fundamentals comes from teaching, lots of time in fine tuning basketball skills, and discipline, discipline, discipline. Unfortunately, these factions are missing from this team. If Roos doesn’t beat Akron next week, she really should submit her resignation immediately, and do so during the postgame interview. The last four seasons have been absolutely pathetic, and this coaching staff needs to own it all!!!

7 assists and 11 turnovers....what a complete disaster this team has become. I feel badly for Puk...on a Curt Miller team she would have been an asset...under Roos she's spent four years playing idiot basketball.

One more year of this nonsense and another tear down begins....
