Toledo coming in hot, this is a BG spot if I've ever smelled one. 17:00 in starts women's hoops talk.

Re: VS Toledo
BG getting hot at the right time coming into this game. Going 4-1 down the stretch would most likely get us into the 4/5 game in Cleveland and avoid Ball St/Toledo/Buffalo in round 1. Getting a home W vs Toledo puts us in position to get there and cements us as a threat in Cleveland.
LONG LIVE THE MONGOOSE!!

Re: VS Toledo
I’m hearing that a few of the coaches flew down to Georgia yesterday (Friday) to watch a recruit and will be flying back today… not necessarily the best look when the rival is coming to town. I would understand checking out a recruit for a non-conference (D2/D3) game, but it shows where the focus is. If it’s a blowout loss tonight, I know some donors and the players won’t be happy because of the situation.

Re: VS Toledo
Well coached win!! Going with the four guard lineup has given th team quite a boost...much more difficult top press them and spreading the floor more gives Donahue more room to get to t he basket. They could be a real problem down the stretch
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Re: VS Toledo
Disagree 100%. It's easy to say now because they won, but it's definitely not a problem if 1-2 coaches travel to see a recruit during the season. Coach Lucas had the Toledo scout (she did the postgame radio interview), and I'm guessing she didn't make the trip. There are 15 kids on the team and 7-8 coaches/support staff. Not everyone needs to be at practice to explain the game plan. It's good that they are looking for future Falcons.bghkyfan74 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 8:37 am I’m hearing that a few of the coaches flew down to Georgia yesterday (Friday) to watch a recruit and will be flying back today… not necessarily the best look when the rival is coming to town. I used to have a neighbor who was a Division I hockey assistant coach, and he said he missed more than half of his team's games one year because he was always driving through Saskatchewan or Alberta to recruit.

Re: VS Toledo
It's amazing how far Donahue has come in a short time, and she really adds another dimension to their lineup. Velasco was amazing last night, but Donahue's defense was a huge factor as well.

The players on the team were on the HS recruit side themselves, they know how it works. Good recruits is step one to program success and I’m glad they’re working it as well.threestooges wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 10:17 amDisagree 100%. I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
Re: VS Toledo
I also disagree that this would be a big deal. It's not weird at all for coaches to travel on recruiting trips at any point of the season. No idea why someone would be concerned about the way it would look based on who an upcoming opponent is. If there's a good recruit out there, go get them.FalconTurf wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 12:43 pmThe players on the team were on the HS recruit side themselves, they know how it works. I am glad it is just me being a grumpy old school man... this new age of recruiting does require a new way of doing things so if this is a new norm, I will adjust to it. Hoping these in-season trips are important and will result in a competitive roster in the future. Appreciate everyone's input.BillyLP wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 12:11 pmI also disagree that this would be a big deal. What a strong performance Sat night! Amy V is such a great leader...she will be sorely missed. BG leads the series 46-44 now.
