Kent State
Bad game. Days are numbered for Chmiel. Will not make it through the contract. Bring Kim Kamryn in as coach. Assistants Hempfling, Andria Cecil (if still coaching), then a male

Re: Kent State
Yeah...I've seen some really good women's teams at BG...this ain't one of them
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Kent State
Just really hard to watch this team. Very few athletes and worse coaching.
I'm VERY curious to see if DVDM makes a move. My guess is he can't for another year.
They still owe Chmiel another two years on the contract at $300k/year.

Re: Kent State
I won't quibble with your opinion here but the Blade reported his original 5 year contract at $260K a year. Probably same effect and likely also not a feasible buyout. His paycut from South Carolina was $40K and only real hope is that some big time WBB school wants him as associate coach.
Re: Kent State
I’m not concerned about his buyout. He’ll land a big assistant coach job pretty quickly, and there are enough unhappy donors that they’ll get a good amount of that committed if needed.fredthefalcon wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 2:55 pmI won't quibble with your opinion here but the Blade reported his original 5 year contract at $260K a year. Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Re: Kent State
We shall see and I have my doubts about big donors swooping in to save the day. We are in a different time and I for one don't feel confident about anything moving forward. How many "big donors" does BGSU have willing to pay for NIL and now willing to step up to pay up for a bad hire (and why should they)?
As a businessperson, what is the ROI besides pride in your alma mater?
I've given a ton of money to BG athletics in the past because it was a somewhat, kind of, sort of level playing field in the MAC. It's flat out gambling now.
