Local skater Alissa Czisny wins the Skate Canada competition. Pretty cool.

I'm not sure. Possibly. Something to look out for though. :)

She got in when Sasha Cohen and Michelle Kwan were injured and did not participate in Skate Canada. She certainly took advantage of the opportunity in front of her!!!!

If she keeps skating like that she sure does have a chance for the Olympics from the USA!

An article in this week's Sports Illustrated had her listed as one of top 5 skaters competing for the 3 spots on the US Olympic team.

Here's an article I ran across on Alissa and the Czisny family's routine.

As someone whose daughter used to skate competively ( but nowhere near the level of these young ladies), I can emphathize with this family. Getting up at 5 am 4-5 mornings a week, working on school figures (which is NOT a part of today's skating in most cases), then switching into another pair of skates for freestyle practice....topped with 3 days (and sometimes nites) of precision team practice certainly took a lot of dedication on the part of daughter, not to mention more than a few bucks from her old man.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
