...they were underclassmen?jburket wrote:Okay, I'll ask the white elephant question that one might ask if they were looking at the situation from the OUTSIDE (i.e. potential recruits and their families).............In the past 2 years, is it merely a coincidence that ALL recent departures from the team have had one particular commonality?
If you want to say something, just say it. It's obvious you have some sort of implication or theory you'd like to toss out, so just do it rather than beat around imaginary bushes.

All right, let's get it out of the way. The recently departed players have been African-American, so the implication is that Miller and Co. have an issue with African American players, or vise versa. Of course it's patently untrue with overwhelming evidence to the contrary. If race was an issue, how would someone explain:jburket wrote:Okay, I'll ask the white elephant question that one might ask if they were looking at the situation from the OUTSIDE (i.e. potential recruits and their families).............In the past 2 years, is it merely a coincidence that ALL recent departures from the team have had one particular commonality?
A) Carin Horne playing and starring four years?
B) Hiring Monique Rosati for the recently created position of Director of Basketball Operations?
C) Curt facilitating the hiring of his former colleague from Syracuse, Louis Orr?
These are not the characteristics of a program or coach with any racial bias or animus. If jealous rival coaches want to hit Curt with this in recruiting, it shows just how pathetic and desperate they've become.

Your spot on. By the way, I believe Jessica McKenzie left the program in the past two years.JoeFalcon wrote:All right, let's get it out of the way. Thank you Joe and tiz. I was going to type some of this out myself, but I didn't want to have to actually type out such a ridiculous accusation, even if I was just making it clear what someone was (foolishly) implying.tiznow wrote:Your spot on. Whew. Thank God, I'm not the only one who's noticed this as well. I really didn't want to be the first one to mention this. With the exception of the Mackenzie girl everyone of the either transfers or girls not even getting on to campus ie Patrice (Taylor I think it was) and Lee Jennings with Jazz MaCall leaving near the end of a season, have been black players.jburket wrote:Okay, I'll ask the white elephant question that one might ask if they were looking at the situation from the OUTSIDE (i.e. potential recruits and their families).............In the past 2 years, is it merely a coincidence that ALL recent departures from the team have had one particular commonality?
Do I think Coach Miller or his staff has a problem with black players? Absolutely not. Why would he be recruiting them if he did? Our newest pg recruit McGowan out of Inkster in Michigan is a black player as well. But do some of these black players for some odd reason have an issue or a less than stellar comfort level with Coach Miller and the staff , possibly but I'm not sure why or what for. One theory I thought about with the regards to the Patrice Taylor and Jazz McCall defections where they being from the the inner city Detroit areas that maybe BG was just too much of a small town or too quiet for their liking. Again that was just a theory.
Its definitely starting to form into an odd trend , one that I hope to see come to and end more or less with Victoria McGowan.

IF there is an issue like this, I'd tend to believe this is more true than the coaching staff having issues with/about black players.Falconboy wrote:being from the the inner city Detroit areas that maybe BG was just too much of a small town or too quiet for their liking

As far as I know, there have never been any racial issues. Hell, Miller speaks more glowingly about Carin than anybody else he's coached.
There have been various issues during Miller's tenure, but they were never about race.
Are we 100% that these kids have left? I've seen rosters be goofy before, especially on the BG site.

I'm very sorry to hear that those were the circumstances under which she left. I've been wondering since the end of last year why she left seemingly for no reason. She was so talented and so much fun to watch. I sincerely hope that things are going well for her, and that she is able to pick up her career somewhere. I would love to see her come back if the opportunity was there. The Niz wrote:I knew Jazz, she did not leave b/c of any racial dispute. I'm not sure how much liberty there is to discuss her situation so I will leave it at this: there was a personal tragedy and she felt the need to attend to it.
