Why are some of you talking about the Stroh Center as if it is going to be located East of Meijer? You are either the laziest people that have ever lived, or you don't give others very much credit.

Well, there will be bus shuttles out to the Stroh I'm sure. But on a day like today with the wind blowing 20+ mph at times and the temperature below 20 degrees, most students would rather not leave their dormitories, much like hike almost a mile through the cold for a basketball game. Call that laziness if you wish, but that's the deal.

If you need any proof of our fans' collective aversion to bad weather, just look at our football attendance figures from September and compare them with our November games. No comparison. People just don't travel to our games in large numbers when the weather is bad unless one of two factors presents itself:

1.Our team kicks ass, and by this I mean great overall record and undefeated or close to it in conference play.
2.A big name opponent has come to play us at home.

Are we talking about the same student body that is willing to walk downtown in the freezing cold without coats? Personally I do not believe you can compare football to basketball. The big reason... football is outside and I love the Doyt, but it's a freaking wind tunnel and when the sun sets it gets ugly real fast.

Now if you compare it to hockey then I will recall from my days in the mid 90s when we would sit an hour and a half outside the Ice Arena before it opened to watch an average team play Michigan.

The biggest problem is apathy and it always has been. Too many people cheer for "bigger" schools like OSU and Mich and if BG is not contending why bother watching them lose. Yet bring in a winner and the crowds will start to come. Just look at this years women's attendance compared to five years ago. I rest my case.

Now to playing at AA instead of at Stroh's I'm against that. I use to work for a Raleigh, NC news station (stupid economy) and NCSU plays at Reynolds instead of the RBC Center (Men's and Carolina Hurricane's home). Reynolds is not that nice... historic... yes, but if I saw the difference between Men and Women, I'd rather go to Carolina and play at the Dean Dome or Duke and Cameron. If this facility is half as what they are predicting then I say let the other MAC programs fear us for having fantastic facility.

College Station should return to compete with Frickers across from the Stroh. Neither were true college bars (during my BG and post BG life) but with at least 45 new events (vb, wbb, mbb) across the street maybe things will change a little out at the old shopping center.

A Pre-Tip Bar Crawl to the Stroh might be the answer. Bball and booze in BG to fill the Stroh with a drunken mosh (sp.) pit of Falcon Fans. Just make sure there is more than one women's and one men's restroom.

Just forget about family friendly.

I don't think many of you realize what it will take to make Anderson Arena a gymnastics training facility and how that will impact the playing surface. To make AA a proper training facility inground pits need to be put in. That means holes in the floor. What will drastically change the playing surface. With everything that needs to be done to make the place a gymnastics arena playing volleyball or basketball AT ALL in Anderson Arena will be next to impossible. The Stroh Center is a huge commitment to basketball and volleyball at BG. But it is also a major commitment to gymnastics. The team hosts Ohio State tomorrow at 2 in Anderson Arena.. I should be there. Come to the meet and I can show you what all would need to be done to the arena.

Great point there, thanks for the insight, as a novice gymnastics fan I for one didn't know about that stuff for making it a training facility
