Curt an NM ????
Re: Curt an NM ????
And plus we cannot forget that current New Mexico AD was the one who gave Curt his first head coaching job here at BG.
Re: Curt an NM ????
Coach Miller was in New Mexico today interviewing for the head coach job at NM. A decision is expected by end of the week. Be nice if BG could come back with a counter offer.

Where did you find that out? I can't find it anywhere.gmartin wrote:Coach Miller was in New Mexico today interviewing for the head coach job at NM. A decision is expected by end of the week. Be nice if BG could come back with a counter offer.
Regardless, I hope BG does come back with a counter offer.

They won't be able to beat it. Even though he's arguably the best coach in the MAC he's also on the lower end of the pay scale in the MAC. Makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?musicman2343 wrote:Where did you find that out? I can't find it anywhere.gmartin wrote:Coach Miller was in New Mexico today interviewing for the head coach job at NM. BGFan, You're right (for a change)...it doesn't make sense to lowball the coach with the best record in the league over the past 10yrs.... too bad no one has come along to offer the WOMEN"S program the 10Mil. or so that the men have been given... (I know they can't use it yet, but knowing that it's soon to be available would certainly help in retaining Curt and the rest of his staff.BGFan wrote:They won't be able to beat it. I can't blame him for looking into this...with Krebs probably doing a big sell job on NM, it'd be hard to pass up...and I honestly think this seems to be the most serious offer Curt has had over the past number of years, even though his name was mentioned, albeit briefly, for other positions.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
Re: Curt an NM ????
I read it in two online newspapers plus while back in BG this morning it was also on Dave Horger's radio broadcast on 88.1fm at 7:40am. They were meeting this morning. Three other candidates have already been interviewed and TWO have already withdrawn their names. I think if Coach Miller wants the job it is his. I will see if I can find more info from the NM newspapers
Re: Curt an NM ????
If the money can't be found to keep him here then I think it's time to take a long look at our athletic department. We're not talking millions of dollars to keep him in BG. The funds needed to keep him should be available from donors if the athletic department can work the boosters.

I'm guessing Mr. Frack is hoping Curt Miller will be long retired before that money is available. And he may be.Class of 61 wrote: too bad no one has come along to offer the WOMEN"S program the 10Mil. or so that the men have been given... That was kind of harsh...
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Curt an NM ????
Curt Miller interview must have gone extremely well as its being reported he is scheduled for a second interview later today. Also, BG cannot compete with NM salary. I believe the last coach was making 3x the money Miller is making here at BG. Hate to see Miller leave but if he does leave he gave our program magical years!!! Personally at this point with everyone know he is a strong candidate I hope he gets the job. Look at what happened to our men's program after Dakich left and came back. Look at what happened at MSU after the Cavs courted Izzo. Even if Miller returns the commitment level may not be the same.
Miller can move on to NM and promote Jennifer Roos, unless NM offers her the same money as an assistant coach as she would receive here at BG

Coaches come and go all the time, it is a business, I hope Miller gets what he wants, BGSU will continue on whether Miller stays or leaves

Since he was 2-2 against Cullop, I was hoping they could build it into a rivalry for at least a few more seasons since both are the best coaches in the conference.

Bob Lindsay would beg to differ regarding Tricia Cullop being placed ahead of him. For that matter so would Kelly Packard, who's been to the NCAA Touranment more times in three years of coaching than Cullop has in 11.
Cullop may eventually be the best coach in MAC history. But she has to get past the WNIT first.

Re: Curt an NM ????
Whatever happens, I wish Coach Miller the absolute best. Obviously I hope he stays at BG but wouldn't blame him one bit if he were offered the gig and accepted. What BGSU has done the last decade is truly remarkable and reinforces the fact BG is the most successful MAC program over the years. We have more regular season titles, MAC tourney titles, NCAA appearances and national rankings than anyone else in the MAC.
Coach Roos would be the logical replacement IF she didn't choose to follow Coach Miller.
If I win the Mega Millions this weekend, I'll put up millions to keep him here.
