NCAA tickets sold out (for SUNDAY)
Re: NCAA tickets sold out (for SUNDAY)
I would like 2 tickets on either sideline for both games on Sunday. Please PM me if you have any available.

Re: NCAA tickets sold out (for SUNDAY)
Do you suppose that a chunk of those sold out ticket holders will be thrilled at the opportunity to turn their necks 180 degrees to see the stats behind them?

Re: NCAA tickets sold out (for SUNDAY)
Per the box score from last years game against Georgia Tech at St. Johns arena the attendance was 5658. That is only just over 1/3 of a full house. Great crowd today for the first session.gmartin wrote:You say the seating is too small. Ok, then explain why last year when BG played Georgia Tech down in Columbus, and OSU played the 2nd game, why was the attendance only 3800. 4700 this weekend sounds bigger than 3800. If this game were played down in Columbus do you think they would draw more than 4700. I doubt it.
Stop being so negative. I for one would rather have a sold out 4700, over 1/4 full arena of 4000. If BG proves to sell out both dates, which I think they will, and do a top notch job of hosting the events with few complaints then maybe we will host future events.
Re: NCAA tickets sold out (for SUNDAY)
True, but that attendance was for both games, and 2000 of those tickets were BG fans, meaning OSU and the other 3 schools combined for only 3000 tickets. Regardless the atmosphere today was great. I would rather watch a game in a sold out venue than 1/4 full. Great to see OSU lose but there will be lots of empty seats on Tuesday. Yes the tickets are already sold but the community will miss thousands of dollars in revenue as many OSU fans will not come back Tuesday taking away business from bars and restaurants, etc.OSUFALCON wrote:Per the box score from last years game against Georgia Tech at St. Johns arena the attendance was 5658. Just have your facts correct gmartin. You call others out when they are wrong. That fact is they sold 5658 tickets with BG fans and OSU fans. The NCAA gets the same dollar no matter how big or small the venue. The Stroh will get another opportunity to host. Could be as early as 2014 or 2015.gmartin wrote:True, but that attendance was for both games, and 2000 of those tickets were BG fans, meaning OSU and the other 3 schools combined for only 3000 tickets. Re: NCAA tickets sold out (for SUNDAY)
I was just pointing out if you take out the 2000 tickets BG bought then OSU at most only had 3800 of their fans. Should have clarified my statement. People were saying the Stroh is too small. I think its the perfect size. If OSU at most sells 3800 tickets for a home tournament then more than likely they won't sell more road game tickets. OSU had a nice following today however I have seen several BG season ticket holders wearing Red today to support OSU.
You said BG could possibly host in 2015. Is there a certain number of years you have to wait to host again. On a side note, Griner is really tall. Wow! I heard a person say she likes BG. Her nickname is BG. She fits right at home.

Usually it's no more than every other year. Ohio State hosted last year and will host in 2013. It is to bad Ohio State lost but they weren't very good today. I think the crowd will be ok Tuesday. It won't be full but it will look ok. As I said all the NCAA cares about is sold tickets. Other than standing room tickets, Tuesday is a sell out.gmartin wrote:I was just pointing out if you take out the 2000 tickets BG bought then OSU at most only had 3800 of their fans. Good stories in the Blade today about Griner being called "BG". The Sentinel Tribune had several good stories on Saturday as well.

Doesn't Dayton host almost EVERY year for the men.

Some schools also do host back to back years, Gonzaga hosted last season and this season, and when looking into it I believe Texas A&M, Maryland, and I think LSU are hosting this year and next year. Never know, maybe we can get 14 and 15OSUFALCON wrote:Usually it's no more than every other year. Ohio State hosted last year and will host in 2013. just the "First Four" "Opening Round" "Play-in games" or whatever you want to call it, them seem to host main 1st and 2nd rounds even 5 years or sofactman wrote:Doesn't Dayton host almost EVERY year for the men.

Re: NCAA tickets sold out (for SUNDAY)
Box score says 4205 for today's Baylor game. Great local support!
Re: NCAA tickets sold out (for SUNDAY)
I'd love to see how that number stacks up against the other second round games. Glad to see us getting support out.OSUFALCON wrote:Box score says 4205 for today's Baylor game. Great local support!
And wow, Purdue can't get much of a crowd out for their own team?
Maybe us and Toledo can rotate hosting every couple years? Toledo has a bigger arena but will probably still draw a crowd like us. Our area is great for the sport, I don't see why we can't do this more often!
Re: NCAA tickets sold out (for SUNDAY)
Went out to see if I could find reaction to the Stroh Center from the visiting fans. Found this, which was pretty positive. The usual references to "high school gym" were limited and quickly refuted.

Good stuff...except for the post stating "Many BG fans showed up wearing their orange and black". They must have been talking about all the folks in the Athletic Dept that wear orange and black.TG1996 wrote:Went out to see if I could find reaction to the Stroh Center from the visiting fans. Anyway, I've watched a lot of NCAA women's action in the first round and most of the arenas have been significantly empty. Personally, I'd rather have 4,700 in a full house than 5,000 in a 20,000 arena.
