I would also expect head coaches at successful smaller D1 schools to also be interested in the job as a way of moving up the ranksccollin13 wrote:+1Rocket_Fanatic wrote:If not Roos, it wouldn't surprise me if you guys got a top assistant from one of the top tier programs. Hard not to see your program as a excellent situation given history, fan support, and new arena
A brand new arena. A ton of underclassman turning upperclassman, including talent like Rogers, Steffan, Matthews. Legacy of greatness. Great community support and a fan base that SHOWS UP to games and makes the house roar. Even a great fan base that travels. BG is really very attractive - but we shall see if the salary is competitive enough.

One could argue Bowling Green is a small division 1 school.

As much as it pains me to say these four words, I'm going to say the following four words...factman wrote:I think Brandi and Kevin are going to Indiana, no matter what happens with the HC position at BG, and certainly Jen if she chooses to go rather than apply or get the HC here.
(wait for it)
I agree with factman.

Re: New Coach Search
True, I probably should have used the term lower level D1 conference, one below the MAC in terms of conference rating when it comes to women's basketball. It wouldn't shock me if the head coach of a successful program in the Atlantic Sun, Northeast Conference, America East or a conference like that was interested in moving to the MAC level.BGDrew wrote:One could argue Bowling Green is a small division 1 school.

Re: New Coach Search
Maybe on the whole, but not as far as women's basketball is concerned. We might not be the Connecticut or Tennessee of mid-majors (that probably falls on Gonzaga, and maybe Green Bay or Marist at this point) but we're right below that top tier. Again, there's a lot of things to like here at BG, a brand new building, great community support, and a proper endowment/financial support for the program. A lot of BCS schools don't even have those three key factors in their favor, but BG does.BGDrew wrote:One could argue Bowling Green is a small division 1 school.

Pretty sure I saw Jen at the Women's Final Four VIP Tip Off party last night. She was wearing an orange backpack. I'll take that as a good sign.

So, the W Final 4 is over . . . GC should be back in BG, after being "in touch with and around Coaches" all week . . . when do we hear something . . . what's the process and what is going on??????
Is this a 'local' deal or are we paying one of those search cos. to do this?

Re: New Coach Search
From previous searches that he's done, I don't think GC is going to let people know how the process is going. I think the next time we hear from him will be when a coach has been hired. Not saying that's good or bad, I'm just saying I think that's what'll happen.Falcon Commander wrote:So, the W Final 4 is over . . . I learned tonight from a good source that Jen has at least interviewed for the position, along with a few others. No other details to give though.

Curious.....would Michigan be interested in Jen? Would she be interested in them?

Re: New Coach Search
I don't think Michigan would be interested in Jennifer. The last 2 times they hired coaches, they hired a head coach from a mid-major. I get the feeling Michigan feels hiring an assistant from a mid-major is beneath them. Would she be interested in Michigan? Perhaps, but I don't think so. Just my 2 cents though.
