Just wondering.............

A great coach fights to protect their players. And that certainly was the case tonight when Niki was down........
I think the point of contention was that Nikki went down before the ball was in-bounded (<-- I've never actually typed that out before). It was pretty outrageous for the officials to not stop play in that case. That building ERUPTED when Nikki came back out, though, which was pretty awesome.

Speaking of the crowd - holy crap! There was a point in that game where the concrete was shaking (I was in the upper bench). When I walked out of the building my ears were ringing, and I still can hardly hear anything. God I love that building, and I am so proud of all of those fans. On only one other occasion have I seen anything even remotely resembling that kind of energy in that building. It is awe inspiring when it happens, and I am so glad I made the trip for the game.

The only disappointment that I feel in this loss is that this was Goldsberry's last game in the Brown and Orange. She has been an absolute warrior her entire career at BG, and I am going to miss her presence and intensity very much, as everyone else has said. THANK YOU Golds, for everything.

I'm not going to get into the rest of the game. Right now, that experience was a just a great, great way to end a REBUILDING season. I think we have all forgotten that after 25 straight wins. Impressive doesn't even begin to describe what this team did this year.

I noticed that they immediately stopped play when an IU player was injured, even though it was far less serious (or at least it appeared at the time that Nikki's injury was serious).

I've got to agree with you there! The crowd was amazing last night! While there were definitely some calls the fans did not agree with (especially the situation just mentioned here), it definitely got the crowd going.

Nice job, Falcons! You fought hard.

An official is supposed to stop play for an injury at any point, as long as the injury doesn't stop the CURRENT play. From what I understand listening on the radio, Nikki was hurt while attempting her shot. Once she was down and the ball was through the net, the official should have stopped the play and let the staff attend to her. Made basket and inury=whistle.

Listening to all of your comments on the crowd really makes me miss the old "house". I haven't been to a gym like AA that was full in a long time. The last time I was at a full arena was the Dean Dome for a UNC/Duke game Battier's last year. And even that doesn't compare. It was packed, but not as good. I am really proud of the team and coaching staff. I am supposed to be at the Final Four next weekend, and I am going to make sure to let Coach Miller know how much I appreciate what they were able to do this year. I just hope that my plans don't fall through. One of the guys I am supposed to go with might not be able to go, and if that happens the other coach that is supposed to go probably won't either. Since the school isn't paying for it this year, I can't afford to make the trip by myself, which means I might get the shaft again. But after what has gone on there since the end of last season, I shouldn't be surprised. Congratulations again to the Falcons, and the rest of you that got to be there at any point this season make me jealous.

Since I had to close last night I got to "watch" the game on gametracker. It seemed we were just out of sync to start and then could never get over the hump after the first 5 minutes of the game. We did well statistically in just about every area but shot percentage. It sucks we are done for the season but what a year. I SO wanted a game with Illinois State. I fell there are a lot of similarities between the two teams and they should see some great success in the next few years. But, if the Falcons aren't going to win the WNIT then I had might as well keep with the bird theme and root for the Redbirds. How long until the 2009-2010 season starts?????

last night the refs were horrible and i was the one of the people that started the bull***t chant last night and the refs deserved it too!
then the refs were dumb enough to call a technical on curt!
Are most officials biased against a mid major school it sure seemed that way last night and i don't know if any body else noticed but that lady official kept on going over to the IU coach that seemed a little odd don't you think

That chant is something that you do when you want to promote to the world that your school is trailer park trash. In the future, find a better way to get your point across but leave the vulgarities at home.

anyone who says F**K YOU to a official should have a T. yes it stinks for the team, but it was an appropriate T
If you would tell the offical to F off then i would give you a T too!

Maybe they didn't deserve the chant for the T on Coach Miller, but I think that was just the straw that broke the camel's back. The game was being called very poorly before that, and the crowd started taking their anger out on the officials. There was a silver lining though, because that T got the crowd fired up and energized the team, almost allowing us to come back. I think we would have won that game 8 out of 10 times, but we got all the bad bounces and all the bad breaks.

The officiating was absolutely terrible, but that's no excuse for shooting 38% from the floor, allowing 48% shooting and getting outrebounded 38-26

they did deserve the BS chant they made countless bad calls and then giving curt the T come on, they should have given the IU coach a T too! and then that lady ref was over at the IU bench every single time out last night and i know that BG should have shot better than what they did but they was playing with two injured players though so you gotta give them credit, they went as far as the could and to me that is good enough.

My favorite stat ever... BGSU has never lost a well-officiated game in any sport.

C'mon guys... if coach dropped an F-bomb at an official, he deserves a T. The Falcons laid it all out on the floor, left it there and came up just a bit short. We should be proud of them and what they accomplished and get ready for what should be an amazing 2009-10 season.

ROLL ALONG!
