they will be one of only five mac women's teams (including two other bgsu teams

) to go undefeated in conference.

Maureen has done a really nice job of covering BG athletics. That article is very well written.
These ladies know what's at stake, and what a victory tonight means. I know that I always feel much stronger right after a nasty flu than right before. I'm sure the team will be fired up tonight. Cindy Merrill and her goofy-ass shot can bite me.

Miami is in for a rough time tonight, I feel. Nothing can stop the BG women!
I agree about Maureen...she has done a great job covering the BG teams. I hope she continues in this capacity for a long time.

The writer has done a fine job.
But there was a factual error in that story that you all would have lambasted the likes of Harris, Markey, John wagner, etc. for.
Perhaps she's fixed it online now, or it never made it in print, but it's online at last check.
I think maybe her gender (is she good looking? I haven't been around in a while) may have something to do with the lovefest.
Just throwing it out there.
Having said that, the milestons this team could accomplish are awesome.

do you mean the typo on Central Michigan's undefeated season? Or the fact that we actually beat Miami in the semis (I think) and not the quarters two years ago? Neither one of those really bothers me. A typo and a small fact in a sidebar from two years ago are hardly things to be lambasted for. I get pissed when people screw up records, teams, or other important stuff.

FWIW, I'm betting VERY few people on this site even know what Maureen looks like. Let her work stand on its own w/o having to fabricate reasons why people might like her. She's done a GREAT job in her short time covering BG sports. She's not from the area (Nebraska and Missouri are NOT BG sports hot-spots), everything she knows she's learned in a VERY short time, AND she's reached out to the community HERE looking for input and even guidance.
Give credit where credit is due... She's impressed the hell out of me, no matter how she looks.

I also think she does a good job. Dropped her an e-mail this morning to tell her that.
I think she enjoys her beat and will write the extra story because she's enjoying herself. Not every beat writer we've had was like that.

She performs admirably and seems like she's having fun. She's a member of this forum and really seeks out good stories. She's an asset to this community.
Irregardless of what she looks like, she writes purdy and covers BGSU. That makes her hot in my book!

I can't comment on her looks because I wouldn't know Maureen if she walked up to me and slapped me, but I do know that she's done an excellent job of covering BG sports this season and she seems genuinely enthusiastic about doing so.
Having had a family member or two in the employ of the Blade...i can tell you that talent and enthusiasm are often in short supply at that end of Superior Street.

I knew I'd get flamed for that comment, which is fine.
I prefaced it with she has done a fine job, and I have read her with great anticipation.
And I knew she was thrown into the fire and has thrived in a very tough situation.
The comment about her gender and her looks only speaks to my point, or opinion, was that I don't understand all the venom for other people on that beat, and I think that's one reason why. It seems many disagree, which is fine, I'm not trying to detract from this team or her work -- like I said, she has done a fine job.
Someone mentioned two other mistakes in the story I didn't even notice. What I'm saying is that if Jack Carle or John Wagner would have said the BG women beat Ohio by THREE the other day, they would have been roasted.
And I'll drop it now, and also say Maureen, if you're reading this, you're doing a fine job.

that's because wagner habitually makes mistakes, and it doesn't seem to phase him. he, like roger brown, belongs in the category of "that guy that makes stuff up for (your local paper)."

My dad's the production manager for The Blade...and while I know some people don't view it in a favorable light...I would just like to say that it's not always the writers who are at fault, but also the editors and those who proofread the columns before the paper goes to press.
I'm not bashing anyone...just saying that guys like Daddy Wags and Harris sometimes get a bad rap for mistakes other people are supposed to catch.

As opposed to mistakes that shouldn't have been made in the first place?

Point taken...but in the hustle and bustle of the newspaper business where writers have many topics on their desks, mistakes will be made. Just saying that they have back up guys who are the ones that need to catch them...maybe I should let my dad know about this.

Whose name is on the byline for the story? If it's mine, then I'm going to take the responsibility to make sure I submit it correctly.
