Won't be released until Monday? Had anyone heard that and I'm missing it here, or is this new? IMO, it's stupid.

For the first-ever Selection Monday, ESPN will present the exclusive, live announcement of the women’s 64-team field on the NCAA Women’s Basketball Selection Special March 13 at 7 p.m. ET. Stacey Dales-Schuman will return to provide analysis alongside newcomers Kara Lawson and host Trey Wingo. The one-hour show will mark ESPN’s 14th consecutive year of announcing the pairings days before it begins complete coverage of the NCAA Division I Tournament March 18 – April 4 on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN FULL COURT. In addition to the Selection Special, women’s NCAA Tournament content will be featured across other ESPN entities, including SportsCenter, Around The Horn, Pardon The Interruption, College GameNight, ESPNEWS and ESPN.com.

You can't have brackets until the teams have been announced. I like having the selection show on a different day than the men's show. It hass always been treated as the warm up to the real show. This is just one more step to put women's basketball on par with men's basketball. I can't wait until monday to see where we go. GO BG!!!!!

Uh, thanks for the lesson. So you think the planners behind BG's trip last year wouldn't have minded one less day in planning a trip across the country?

i doubt if it's a big deal. i'd imagine that hotels and such are lined up months in advance. finalizing transportation is the only real last minute thing. last year's initial "plan" called for a charter flight from toledo to (i believe) bowling green, ky, with another stop along the way before going to seattle. our people (rightfully so) scoffed at that, because it would've put our people on an airplane for like 10 hours. so, our team and cheerleaders and frieda were bussed to columbus, and flew commercial to seattle. the band (of which i was a member), meanwhile, left the middle of the next morning because of a conflict with a concert. we normally would have gone with the team, but the band's travel was moved because of the concert. we flew on two seperate flights, from detroit, via chicago and dallas, to seattle. everyone flew back to toledo from seattle on a chartered flight. the ncaa picks up the tab on these trips, and, the expense to the organization of chartering flights is, relatively speaking, nominal.
