BG lost a tough one to Troy, 1-0, to open the weekend at the USF Speedline Invite but then shut out 3 straight opponents...including the Purdue Boilermakers!
Falcons rocked Townson, 10-0, beat Winthrop 2-0 and capped it off with a 6-0 whitewash of Purdue. So far this weekend, BG has outscored the opposition 18-1!!! Sweet.
BG plays Fordham today to wrap up the trip and will finally play at home vs. Detroit, next Sat with a DH.
GO BEEG!

BGSU-12 TIME MAC CHAMPION
FALCON FOOTBALL ROCKS!
Accourding to the official BGSU web site, the Falcons won the tournament in Tampa today. Congratulations.
When the team was in Boca Raton for the Florida Atlantic tournament the previous weekend, I watch some of both Friday games. Gina Rango is arguably the best player on the squad. Her defensive play at 3rd base is all-american quality.
I thought Hayley Wiemer did some nice pitching. She saved the first game in the tournament against Seton Hall (the eventual tournament champions)when she came in the final inning with tying women on 2nd and 3rd, and 1 out. She then started the 2nd game and pitched quite well, giving up only 1 run, and possibly got credited for the win in the 2nd game.
FAU sure has some nice facilities. The outfield fall has beautiful tall palm trees along the entire outfield wall. If the game gets boring, one only needs to look behind the ballpark and watch expensive private jets takeoff and land all day at the airport.
Gina Rango is the best player in the MAC and she's the best player in Bowling Green History. We're talking about a girl who is first on the BGSU career records list in batting average, homeruns, RBIs, and slugging percentage, and second in hits and doubles. And these were broken her junior year! She's definately going to leave a legacy behind her. But what's great about this team is that Gina is not the only player who can come through in the clutch. This has to be the one of the best all around BG softball teams ever. Picked to win the MAC Eastern division by the coaches in the preseason the sky seems to be the limit for these girls. Anything besides a MAC tournament title and a NCAA birth in my opinion will be a disappointment. And watch out for the sophomore Allison Vallas, once this girl gets hot at the plate Ill feel sorry for the oposition.
