Very good article. One thing about Fran Vol's teams they were fundamentally without flaw. I see a lot fo similarities between this year's team and those teams under Fran.
Oh, and Maureen's hott.

The history is a big foggy, but he was promoted in 1991 to Assistant (Associate?) AD and held that position until 96. He then went to go be CMU's head coach. I believe he missed coaching and wanted another whack at it. He was at CMU from 1996 to 2000.
He had is hands in A LOT at CMU. He left there to take a little less stress and profile job. That is principal of his high school Alma Mater where he is today.
I'm uncertain of the exact details of the job shifts, but I believe I have the big picture close to accurate.

I really don't remember if this was a position he pursued or if this was a big time "shoulder tap." I thought it was bad news because at the time I had a feeling the women's bball team would slip dramatically.Schadenfreude wrote:So he wanted that job?Rightupinthere wrote:he was promoted in 1991 to Assistant (Associate?) When that happens to a football coach, that ain't good news.

My hometown is Marion, Ohio and if I'm not mistaken, Fran's son was my football coach, phys. ed. teacher, and Vice Principal.

I got a PM to that effect, too. Sounds like he wasn't pushed upstairs. I always wondered. Glad to have that cleared up.factman wrote:I believe Fran was very interested in becoming an AD at the university level, thus he originally got out of coaching to pursue that dream. When he was turned down for the BGSU AD position a few years later, he decied to return to coaching at CMU, but has always remained a Falcon, thru and thru!!
