Coach Ross has accepted a position as head softball coach at Syracuse.........at least she won't have to change colors!!

I think Mr Christopher might have screwed up on this one, because I don't think it would have taken much to keep her here, even with a great offer from Syracuse.

What?

This is the biggest loss in school history. This is easily more devastating than Urban going to Utah. Well for me it is.

WOW! Talk about a huge let down...
I guess Matt won't be coming up to BG for games anymore!

It might have had nothing to do with AD Christopher ,but how good Syracuse's program is, their facilities and their better overall commitment to that sport compared to us. Plus I'm sure the money was good too. Coaches always say they weren't looking for a new job but if ones comes up with big money and better prestigious school like Syracuse its usually no contest. Hope she does well and hope we can get a good replacement. When is she leaving this late summer/fall or do we have her for at least this season?

I can't blame Coach for leaving. She was here 8 years...which is a pretty long time. She did an awesome job and that got her noticed. Unfortunately for us, this is usually what happens to our coaches. Ross, who recorded an eight-year record of 237-198-2 (.545) at Bowling Green, was the first coach in Falcon softball history to reach 200 career victories.
"The Syracuse athletics department is what really sold me," Ross said. "There is so much commitment to student-athletes, to the University and to the community. I really want to be part of that. I never thought I would find a better place than Bowling Green, but I did in Syracuse. I was not looking to leave Bowling Green, but after talking with the people at Syracuse, I was so impressed with the vision. Syracuse provides an opportunity to play at a University that has national recognition, a great conference in the BIG EAST, and it still feels like a family. It is a comfortable, secure environment."
I like the fact she's honest about leaving. Unlike past coaches...
I wish Coach nothing but the best at Syracuse and thank her for what she's done for our softball program. Looks like AD Christopher as his first assignment. I am very interested to see who he gets as a replacement.
THANKS COACH!!! BEST OF LUCK!!
GO BG!

Accrding to the Sentinel-Tribune, she asked Syracuse to remove her name from consideration but they pursued her and her assistant coach. Nice to see her be offered the opportunity to move on.

Her parting comments were very gratious.
I wish her all the luck in the world.

Best of luck at Syracuse.
Ross-Shaw brought high energy, local experience and recruiting acumen while Jemison was the missing part of the program as an ace pitching coach.
Those qualities need to be found in the next head coach and staff.
What scares me is the notion that Syracuse has this athletic department on their radar screen given their women's basketball "interim coach" situation. They'll probably go after Miller, but IMO he can hold out for much better opportunities than Syracuse and continue to build the BG program into a dominant one.
what a loss!

Good Luck to Coach Ross. She is a great person, class act, and a great...GREAT COACH! Any ideas of coaches interested or quality candidates that we should be going after to continue the program in the upward motion? It seems to me this is important with the fall season just around the corner....

Apparently the job search for a new coach should be narrowed to three by the end of the day. No potential candidate names were given however.
BGNews article on new softball coach

They have been practicing every day, with Coach jameson and I believe the new assistant coach that was just hired a month or so ago. I haven't heard anything on the new coach other than they have it down to three. I bet we know something this week.

does anyone read jjhuddle? this job was a topic on there today and someone was claiming to know 5 of the applicants....that was this afternoon. As of 9 pm tonight, when I went back to the page, the thread was gone. Not sure if it got crazy while I was gone or what, but it has vanished....
