I'm speachless, dissapointed, and too many other things to put into words right now. That being said, I had a feeling this was going to be bad when I first heard of it a month ago or so. I would like to know why this is not out on our own athletic website? Why do we have to hear about it from a newspaper in Akron for God's sake?! I just don't know what to say. :(

In fairness, it has been on the Akron website for an hour, and *just* came down on the AP.

But I see what you're saying, when the news was released by the University, it would have been nice to see a statement on the official site. Then again, do many university sites post stuff like that? Or do they use their site as a PR machine?

EDIT: (Not counting Marshall's official athletics site: http://www.wvrja.com/ )

Our athletic Web site never publishes these things. Most schools do not.

It posted on the Plain Dealer site just after 7:30 tonight. Same thing as the Beacon Journal.

Probably yelling at and demeaning people. Stuff that doesn't fall under the "physical danger" category, yet someone still thinks it needs to be stopped.

From the article:
"The young women on the team, they were doing some things that they didn't even realize were hazing," Christopher said. "That's on our shoulders. We need to improve the education for our student-athletes and our coaches as to what is hazing and what is not hazing."

[rant] They need to make it clear to the ENTIRE UNIVERSITY what they define as hazing. It's been an issue before for some people and its a load of phucking bullsh!t. They can't punish people when not being clear about the rules in the first place. And I'm sorry, scavenger hunts are NOT HAZING.[/rant]

That will only make sense to two or three people. It's a bitter subject.

Should we wait and see if Stehpanie Swiger posts here and tells us what happened? This is really odd , its really hard for me to see the girls of the volleyball team hazing someone. No one has left the team as far as I know so it could't have been real extreme ,but still this isn't good.

It's good to know some things never change. I did need that laugh today, so thank you..... :D
