Calling Out Ali Mann

Post by transfer2BGSU »

I had the opportunity to ride the Falcon Club bus over to South Bend last night and was very impressed with our ladies. Just fell a bit short and we should have won that game, but what a great learning experience.

I am calling out Ali Mann.

I was very impressed with this young lady when 7.9 seconds appear on the game clock in regulation and she is out on the floor pumping her arms and giving her teammates encouragement and letting them know the game was not over even though we were down by three.

Great leadership by a great player!

Hear, hear! I went with my dad and had to sit in one of the ND sections (he's a grad). I was the lone orange in a sea of green.

At first, when I saw this thread title, I thought "uh oh" :D

I think the ladies played well enough to win, but unfortunately lost. A couple of my thoughts:

* We were the better team. No question.

* We didn't do a good enough job of getting the ball to Ali or Liz down low. Kate took too many shots (which she alluded to in her post-game comments). She was constantly guarded by someone faster and/or bigger and it threw her off balance a lot.

* I was so proud of all the people that traveled to South Bend. The ND fans I sat with were very complimentary and said that we're one of the best traveling teams they've seen.

* They also said they haven't seen a better three-point shooting team and won't this year. Nice three point shooting, ladies!

* I actually saw a girl wearing an orange Notre Dame sweatshirt. Doh! Do a little research

The cool thing about ND women's basketball is that it's all "townies" that go, not those affiliated with the University. It makes for a nicer crowd. I gotta say, it was hard because I used to go to ND women's basketball games as a kid, but my loyalties are to my alma mater and I was proud to be the only one in orange in my section.

Good luck in Florida, ladies!

From the radio perspective, it sounded like the home atmosphere was the difference in the game. Also, the 5-point play ND had when we were up about 10 midway through the second half was a killer. As soon as that happened, and the crowd got into it, I turned to my wife and said "Uh-oh -- we're in trouble."

Great effort nonetheless, and we'll have plenty more opportunities to prove ourselves before MAC play kicks off.

Yeah, but I was talking about wearing an orange Notre Dame shirt when you are playing a team that is Brown and Orange!

I had the pleasure of having Ali as a co-worker this past summer. She's an amazing young woman. Very proud to be able to call her a Falcon. Plus, the fact that she survived a summer in the Glasstech accounting office proves her toughness. ;-)

Is it the snakes or the rabid monkeys that makes the place so dangerous?
