That sux. Barring us losing in the MAC tournament (yeah right) the MAC's a one-bid conference once again.brewer wrote:to OU in Muncie leaving BG as the lone remaining unbeaten in MAC play.

Again, like I said in the WMU thread earlier this week, let's not get delusional here. Any other team in the MAC would have to play a perfect game to beat us, and we'd probably have to screw up too. Personally, I think the thought of anybody coming into AA and beating us is laughable. EMU and NIU could be dangerous because they are road games, but that's it.TG1996 wrote:You would, wouldn't you?Joe Foss wrote:I didn't think it sucked. I thought it was great.![]()
I think this loss just makes BSU more dangerous when we face them. They won't have the pressure of an unbeaten MAC season on the line. I don't follow the MAC much outside of BG on the women's side, but they could have done worse than losing to OU as far as at-large consideration goes.
And I hope ours aren't either. That's exactly the way you end up getting caught off guard.bgsufalcon24 wrote:I highly doubt any of their players were even thinking about a perfect conference season yet.
Hey, I can look ahead all I want, I'm not playing on the team. Now, it would be different if I was Megan Thorburn or Liz Honneger. I'd look at it like, "hey, how can I kick some serious EMU azz on Sunday?" Then, "what am I going to do to beat Chicago St." and so on. From having played basketball competitively before, I find that its much easier to look ahead to the postseason as a fan as opposed to as a player. Especially if you lost the previous game, because you are so focused on correcting your mistakes and winning the next one. Can you get into a false sense of security on a big win streak? Sure. But that has yet to ever happen in the past two seasons, so I don't expect it to happen now. Judging by our play this season, I don't see how anybody in the MAC can beat us if we retain our focus, which seems to be the basis of your concerns. Where we differ is that I have no reason to doubt our teams focus and effort, or our coaching (although I don't think anybody in their right mind would doubt our coaching)Peregrinner wrote:And I hope ours aren't either. I know you don't want to admit the possibility of any team in the MAC beating us, but anything is possible. For someone to say that Ball State losing a game now might be a danger to us is a perfectly reasonable point.
There's a reason the games are played. Maybe we roll by 20, maybe we don't, but it's more reasonable to consider every team at least somewhat of a danger than it is to go through with your head in the clouds and be looking at the MAC and NCAA tourney right now.
I thought the same thing as far as BSU and pressure. I'm REALLY glad that game is in AA.TG1996 wrote:You would, wouldn't you?Joe Foss wrote:I didn't think it sucked. I thought it was great.![]()

There's a vast difference between doubting the players and coaches and admitting there's a chance for any team on any day to shock their opponents.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Where we differ is that I have no reason to doubt our teams focus and effort, or our coaching (although I don't think anybody in their right mind would doubt our coaching)
