So have we topped out, then?

Nope -- I think we'll end up in the 12-14 range.

Remember, we picked up votes this week. Plenty of teams in front of us have very tough games coming up.

But how many mediocre teams below us will jump is if they pull an upset win?

I wouldn't call Marquette mediocre. They have the same record as us, and an SOS about 50 spots higher. They also have 7 top-50 RPI wins and an RPI in the top 10. Taking off the goggles, it's awfully hard to make a case that we should be ranked higher than them.

A&M and Louisville, which are the other teams that could realistically jump us soon, are much closer to mediocre, even though they have some impressive wins the last few weeks.

I expect Marquette to lose (@ RU, vs UCONN), Georgia to lose (vs. LSU), and maybe Kentucky can do us a solid and knock off Vandy at home this week. That would put us right back around 15. As it stands, we're more than twice as close to 15 vote-wise as we were last week, even though we got jumped.

I'll do my part to go cheer on KY this Thursday. Going to take my oldest to the game. I wouldn't expect a win however, UK has lost 4 out the last 5. They don't seem to be playing like they did last year, even with everyone pretty much returning. But a Vandy loss would be very good for us.
Georgia will most likely lose, but I wouldn't expect them to drop much, since they are playing LSU, and they also have 126 votes on 15th vandy.

Yeah, but if they lose, that's their 5th loss. That's a lot of losses to be ranked in the top 20.

It'd be close, but if all 3 of those teams lost once this week, UGA would probably still be 14 with us at 15 not too far behind. The big gap between 14 and 15 in votes is why I thought we'd only get to 15 if everything goes our way this week.

Purdue should fall tonight from 12th as they play OSU.

Actually, I hope they beat OSU. That would bring us one step closer to being top team in Ohio.

Purdue did indeed lose, but they were up to tenth in the AP, so they're still out of our range. They'll need to lose probably twice more for us to pass them in the AP. I'm interested to see how the coaches poll today will react to them losing.

After looking at the coaches poll from last week, and comparing the gaps in votes to the gaps from the AP, I think we'll either hold at 16 or maybe even move to 15 today.

Sure enough, holding steady at 16 in the coaches poll. We gained 14 votes.

Marquette has already been struck down by the Gods for jumping us. Rutgers beat 'em by ten tonight.

We'll be movin back up.

How many spots does Rutgers gain, now.
