I don't understand it. We haven't lost since we played that tough game against Duke, the #1 team in the country. And yet we lost about 60 votes in this weeks poll, got passed by Louisville, and nearly got passed by Middle Tennessee State. We now have 5-loss California breathing down our necks as well, which is crazy.
6 of the 17 teams ranked in front of us now have 4 losses, #9 Georgia, #11 Stanford, #13 Purdue, #14 Vanderbilt, #15 Baylor, and #16 Texas A&M. Three others have 3 losses, #6 Maryland, #7 LSU, and #12 Oklahoma.
I'm thinking the coaches' poll grades us much differently tomorrow. The AP really stuck it to us.

This was not a convincing win for us. We trailed most of the game before turning it on. The AP voters will look at that as a negative. We just need to drop Ball State by about 20 and we will start climbing again. I agree the coaches will see this as it was, a gutsy win by a good team who may not have had things go their way for most of the game. At this point I don't care as long as we stay in the top 25. It is kinda sad that if we beat Ball State we will probably end their tournament hopes and the hopes of the MAC getting two teams into the dance. But I can live with that if it is meant to be.

When it comes to a team like BG, the media vote via box score.
This doesn't mean anything right now, anyway. It's unnecessary noise which the team cannot control.
Just worry about what they can control. In other words, just win, baby.

you can't win every game by 20... there are going to be some close calls... and for the most part... AP writers don't know Bowling Green From Wright State... so what are you going to do?

Yeah -- I'm much more interested in the coaches poll. Those people actually a know a basketball from their brown-eye.

The Asanine Poll.....

Yeah, this burns me too. But as I looked at the team directly ahead of us in the poll Louisville and Texas AM , those teams are probably in better ranked conferences than the Mac for sure.

All though they've lost 4 games , they've also have beaten 3 ranked teams including a #6 Baylor. Louisville's record is not as impressive as far as teams beaten and such. At the espn link you can click on each team and see a page that shows their entire schedule. The only mid-major team ahead of us GW has their only 2 losses to a #1 MD & #5 Tenn and they still got better wins than us overall with wins over a #10 Georgia.
Most of these teams ahead of us have more higher rated teams to play (except maybe GW) while for us its all down hill pretty much. It also looks like every team ahead of us has beaten a ranked team. And the losses for most of the teams ahead of us have been to big conference teams as well.
Whats hurting more than anything is probably our lack of beating ranked team or team just barely out of rankings or with very high RPI and the assumed mediocrity of the Mac. It also seems as though the AP pollsters think our big wins IU, Temple, Delaware arn't that big anymore.

I can live with A&M jumping us, they have had some good wins. And as far as that McNeese game, McNeese is just that bad. And when you have a shot clock, you can't control how bad the score gets. You can't tell your team to go out and just start throwing up bad shots to miss on purpose, or to just let the shot clock run out and give the ball back to the other team.

i think us falling back is a bit justified, yeah, we did win sunday but we were getting out played for most of the game and honestly i dont think we deserved to win, but we know how to win in crunch time. I think that a win at home against Balls Tate will give us a quality win for this week and will not let us fall any further, hope fully some teams lose that are ahead of us and we jump a few of those chumps

Well, the OOOOOOOOOOOverrated #9 Georgia Bulldogs got crushed by #3 Tennessee tonight 73-57, in a game that wasn't even as close as the score would indicate. I'm so pissed that the AP voters moved them up FIVE spots for their win over LSU last week. This loss tonight gives them their 5th loss of the season.
If at any point, any 5-loss teams are rated higher than us with only 2, I'm gonna flip.

I can't say I'm happy with our poll drop. But I can say I'm not terribly surprised. There's only two things that can help us: Wins, and fans. The girls will keep winning. With Miller at the helm I just don't see them letting up even for a second anymore.
You may disagree with me on this but hear me out. How many other ranked teams in the country average only 1,500 fans a game? How many other ranked teams only draw 2,300 fans to a televised BIG rivalry game? Most people on this board do their part, but the community in and around BG does not. I firmly believe that some of those voters saw some of the game on Sunday and saw how the arena still wasn't full even given the extreme circumstances; and they had to ask themselves why such a good team can't fill their arena. They must feel we aren't better than many other teams who can pack their houses.
I can't quite figure out how to write out my exact thoughts behind this, I guess I better pay more attention in my next 'effective communication' course.
Start filling the arena and show the whole country that this team and this entire school deserves its place near the top of the list.

They are an exception, but George Washington is ranked 8th with an average home attendance of 609.
