We didn't move in the AP poll, but Middle Tenn. St. jumped us from 19 to 17.

As I feared....

We had a better week than MTSU also.
I have a hard time believing that GW is 10 spots better than us....

There's no way that a ladies team that draws so poorly to its ladies games is a top ten ladies team
In all seriousness, the A-10 has a better rep than the MAC, and, GW played two top five teams, where we only played one. That's the only logic that I can see.
Remember that the polls are just a sampling of some folks' opinions. They aren't necessarily an indicator of how good a team actually is.

That's how I figure it too, but GW got absolutely pasted by their two top-5 teams, and we were in it to the end with by far the best team in the country. Their resume is certainly better than ours because of the win @ Georgia, but not by that much. The A-10 isn't that much better than the MAC, and last I checked, we demolished the second best team in the A-10, which leads me to believe we could run that table too. The A-10 is tenth in conf RPI, and the MAC is 11th.
GW most definitely is not 9 spots better than MTSU either. I just wish I could pick some of these people's brains and get some honest answers as to why they vote the way they vote. There doesn't seem to be much logical thought involved in the process.

Which leads me to believe this team is one of the top 7-15 teams in the country.
GW beat Georgia which is why they are so high. We didn't beat a ranked team this year.
MTSU passing us pisses me off. They also beat an overrated Georgia team, but we have had a better year

While the polls are fun to track during the season, and provide nice recognition for our team, the rankings don't mean doodily squat to the selection committee. If they did, we wouldn't have been a 12 seed last year and nationally ranked at the same time. I don't think we should've been jumped by MTSU either, but it's really not anything to worry about in the long run.

That sounds similar to a BCS FB fan using attendance to disparage the quality of what might be a fine MAC FB team any given year.Especially when they only average about 600 in home attendance.

Plus don't forget their contingent of 2,000 fans who arrive after halftime.
The voters likely looked at our scores this week without bothering to look at the records of BSU or NIU. Do you really expect them to be responsible people?

If we win out, 6 seed is rock bottom. Charlie Creme says a 4 is the max.Falcon30 wrote:My biggest fear is getting an 8 or 9 seed
I would take a 7 or even a 10 over an 8-9
This is a really weak year after the top few...maybe we get that high seed.
My money's on a 5, but I'd rather have a 6.

I would be shocked with a 5. The committee has it in for smaller conferences.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:If we win out, 6 seed is rock bottom. Charlie Creme says a 4 is the max.Falcon30 wrote:My biggest fear is getting an 8 or 9 seed

No doubt, but this is a VERY weak year for middle of the pack power conference teams. Very few have distinguished themselves. Last year's BG team gets an 8-9 seed this year. They are currently a rising 5 seed in today's ESPN projections. The guy that makes those projections stated in his chat today that MTSU and BG could get 4 seeds this year.Falcon30 wrote:I would be shocked with a 5. The colonial is also slated to get 3 teams, including Delaware, and Ball State is safely in the field as a 10 seed. The committee has no choice this year but to be inclusive, since the power teams just aren't there.

F the polls. Just take it a game at a time and this team will take any challenge it faces. It's done that all year - and admirably at that.

The fact that our poll rankings are frozen doesn't surprise me too much. Our RPI is only catching up to our rankings, which were out of step for a while. We just haven't had an opportunity to make gigantic statements in MAC play.
I would guess, at this point, we are pretty solidly in the Top 25, and would stay in even with a loss.
