Just curious to hear if any women's basketball fans who used to play in the team's July golf outing are going to be playing in the new all sport golf outing on June 2nd?

From what I've heard some will if they can make it. It's not the best weekend with HS graduations and so forth...
Many i've heard from are not too pleased with the new direction mainly b/c it was not explained well in the initial mailing about the Falcon Bash. It's a great concept 18 sports 1 team... I just hope funds get distributed fairly regardless of revenue and non-revenue.
However, teams are still allowed to have a golf outing as more of a "get together" with fans and alum as long as it's not June or July...
My guess is to keep an eye out for any new information. BG's golf outings whichever team are a lot of fun!! Go Falcons!

I will not be playing in the all sport outing. The cost is the biggest factor. I am not a huge donor, but I donate what I can. I easily dropped $300+ playing in 3 outings, but it was fun donating for the scholarships because you had the atmosphere of comraderie amomg the other golfers as well as the coaches and players.

Although I'm really disappointed that this outing will take the place of the women's basketball outing, I'm going to play and give it a chance. I hope it generates the kind of money that the athletic department is looking for, however I do feel that it calls to the big money donor and leaves the "little guys" out in the cold. Plus you can't designate your money to any particular team.
I have been a big promotor of the WBB golf outing since Jaci Clark was coach, and I could name at minimum, 20 people who don't have anything to do with BGSU except their love of this outing. They will not play in an outing of the new format. At about $100+ per person spent for the WBB outing, that alone is $2,000 we will never see again. Not a ton in the big picture, but that's hotel and meals for a road trip. I was told that those who want to designate their donation can join Falcon Club. That still leaves out all the participants that don't have anything to do with BGSU and would have no reason to join Falcon Club.
I have spoken my feelings strongly to the athletic department and Falcon Club, that although I agree with the reasons for having one outing (18 sports-1 team), it also takes a lot away from the individual team camaraderie with their friends, families and fans. Anyone who has ever played in the women's basketball golf outing knows what I am talking about.
I know that the coaches can have their own outings for fun, but really......I can't see that lasting very long when there's nothing in it for them, but more work. It might be easier since they don't have to secure the sponsors, but it's still work. Also, August is the month the coaches finally come off the road, and might actually get to take a vacation. Plus, the kids go back to school in August so that allows a very small window to hold the outing.
I am encouraging my friends and others who played in the WBB outing to play in the Falcon Bash.....to give it a try. I know I will have fun, because I have fun teammates, but I still believe that a lot is being lost by going to this format.

I sure will miss playing with you in those outings (':(')WBBFan. Playing 36 holes in the WBB outing was great fun, as was the Falcon Club outing. Chip one in for me

I'll miss you too SGTROCK! We sure did have fun! Weren't we the ones who started the 36 hole days in the WBB outing? In the end there were probably about 10 or more playing both the morning and afternoon sessions. That's $170 in entry fee's alone! Plus all that betting money we lost (donated!), and the balloon pop! Geez......that's a lot of money put into the program!
I'll also miss the massage oasis at Falcon Ladies Day!!! Nothing like a chair massage half way through the round!
So many memories........we won't even start the stories of the margarita fountain!

sgtrock, I didn't know you were a golfer. Perhaps we'll have to meet up for a round, if not at this event (which, by the way, I am hoping to make - sounds like a great time!).

I golf, but don't know if I'm a golfer. You'll have to ask WBBFan about that. If my game improves, it's because of her. The neat thing about playing 36 holes is that as WBB says the money just came out of our pockets. We loved playing the betting hole, especially against the Kater. I did beat her once, although it too me 3x. I know at the Falcon Club outing, Jeri always placed some big $ on our team at the betting hole. I will really miss the outings. I'm one of the "little guys".[/i]

SGTROCK - you golf....therefore you are! (a golfer, that is) Ya, last year was so much more fun playing the quarry hole against the Kater than it was playing against the pro. By the end of the day, he was lucky to be able to see the green, let alone hit it! I think that keg was a little to close to the tee!
I have talked to Brandi a bit about a friends/fans/family outing in August, but I want to be sure 100% that they REALLY want to do it. She thought it would be a great time since the freshman would be on campus and it would be a great time to introduce them. But again....if I were them, I'd probably be thinking....Phew....we don't have to do all that work anymore! So, we'll see.
You'll be back by Aug, right? [/quote]

Glad to see folks are giving this Falcon Bash 18 sports 1 team outing a chance. I think it is a great idea. Sure, it takes some getting used to, but I support many of the sports. But I also do not have unlimited golf time. So I really like the idea of one big event and a more informal friends of our sport outing (if the coaches choose to do it).
If our fans come out (what is minimum for golf and everything- $205 single/$700 foursome?) and get involved over the next couple of years, I think this big event will work well. I know many of us spend a whole lot more to play in a bunch of outings.
I think the other huge deal is being able to designate your Falcon Club contribution by sport. That has a chance to draw more people into the group and keep them tied closely to the certain sport(s) they truly love.
See you June 2.
Go Falcons!
