Permission has been granted to Eastern Michigan women's basketball coach Suzy Merchant to interview for Michigan State's head coaching position.

"(MSU athletic director) Ron Mason called and asked to talk to Suzy about the head women's basketball position at Michigan State," Eastern AD Derrick Gragg said Friday.

It was rumored Al Brown, an MSU assistant, would be announced as coach Monday, but MSU representative John Lewandowski said "there's no press conference scheduled for Monday."

An EMU fan on the MAC board is reporting Merchant hired by MSU.

No details.

The tipping point was when the EMU AD called her "Suze" instead of Susie a la that Seinfeld episode. :-)

The assistant who took over the head coaching duties in her maternity absence would seem like the logical successor. This is phenomenal news for BG!

I'm old too. Sitting next to her, she's little skinny for my taste. Now Tracy Roller...that's a different story.

Your taste in women is hideous. Roller is hangry, not to mention about 8 feet tall.

She really isn't that good looking. Average at best, just like the Spartans will remain.

What? You got short man complex? She is no more than 5'10" in heels.
