This week they did not receive any votes in either. I know it is early but if they received six votes last week, how do they not receive even one vote this week?

Coach Miller has a vote ... so I guess not even he felt they were one of the top 25 teams in the country last week. If he thinks that, no one else should get mad about it!!! =)

Yeah, but it is still a slap in the face to our program. With the final ranking we had last year and our recent body of work, we should have been a heck of a lot higher this year to start things out.

Oh, I agree Tom. But this happens to teams in the MAC in all sports, it seems. I think as long as the team keeps winning, the rankings will happen!

Yes and no. Last year, when the Falcons were ranked but fell in the pools even when they won. I believe it happend in consecutive weeks last Feb.

It can also hurt down the line as far as tourney seeding. Much like BCS points it is much easier to sustain than to break in to rankings. That hurt us three seasons ago when we got the unkind draw of UCLA.

I like going under the radar as well, but I had to throw that point out there.

The rankings and tourney seedings have absolutely no causal relationship whatsoever.

We didn't deserve any rankings at the beginning of the year, and we don't now. A few votes here and there would be warranted I think, but any more is greedy at this stage.

If we start whooping up on the teams at the end of the OOC schedule, then we can start talking votes.

You don't think if we were ranked higher heading in to the 2006 tourney we would have received a better seed and draw??

When we got that 12 seed and drew UCLA I felt bad because we deserved a better seed.

Don't forget...we also lost 4 starters and 6 seniors from the team last year and with the MAC that's all some voters see, the fact that we lost everyone.

I thought 12 was low as well, but our seeding had nothing to do with our ranking. The rankings are not even in the room. They never have been for the men's or women's committees.

You hit it on the nose!
It's not about who you were last year, especially when practically your whole team graduated. And, it's not about respect.

It's not even about winning 4 games in a row! It's about who you played, who you beat and then who they played and if they won or lost. It's also about who you might have lost to and their record and schedule prior and after beating you.

We could win both teams this weekend, and still not get votes at 6-0. But, beat or have a great game against ND, and I think we'll see some movement.

it took about 2 years for the voters to figure out who Ali, Liz, Caryn, Megan, and Amber were and how good they were. Can we expect, or even wish for them to have done their homework and know how good this group is so quickly? The only player the voters REALLY know right now is Kate and if they gave top 25 votes based on just her, we'd be hearing All America type conversation surrounding #20...and we aren't hearing that at all.
