MAC struggling so far

Post by Jacobs4Heisman »

With about a third of the OOC schedule behind us, the MAC is really struggling in terms of RPI. The MAC is currently only 22nd in conference RPI. We're respectable at 71 since we haven't played anybody yet, but the rest of the conference is hurting. For comparison's sake, last year the MAC was 11th in Conf RPI.

Everybody else has at least two losses, and the next closest RPI is Ohio at 153. There are only two other conference members that are even under 200 (BSU - 170, CMU - 177).

These numbers can certainly change a great deal before conference play starts, but they are troubling so far. A poor Conference RPI can hurt us in two ways. If we do put up a great season and win 20+ games but lose in the tourney, it can really hurt us for an at-large bid. If we do end up winning the tourney, it can really hurt in terms of seeding.

Needless to say, hopefully the rest of the MAC will pick it up a few notches over the next month.
