I just saw my epsn rss feed for college women's basketball listing their near DII record 119pt pounding of Temple Baptist by score of 132 to 13....wow. Thats just ridiculous. I seriously think there are at least a handful of Div.1 HS girls teams that could put up a better fight than that.

As a former coach ( of several different sports), I think it's RIDICULOUS for a margin like this.... obviously, you're playing a pathetic, under-womaned team...so WHY PRESS? Why pressure at all? Why not work on your ball handling, passing, use of shot clock etc.? I don't have much respect for ANY coach who runs up a score to this extent...and it's hard to believe that they were "trying" to keep the game more competitive.

I don't understand your obsession with "Div.1 HS" athletics.
Off the top of my head, for example, Regina High School in South Euclid competes in division III. Regina has consistently been one of the top girls basketball teams in the state over the last decade. In fact, they didn't lose a game from like 2000 to 2003. Along the way, they beat plenty of larger schools (including my own alma mater, Hoover, who along the way has won a state championship, sent several girls to play college ball, and is a fixture in the regional finals). Regina also won like six state championships in that time.

Along the way, they beat plenty of larger schools (including my own alma mater, Hoover, who along the way has won a state championship, sent several girls to play college ball, and is a fixture in the regional finals). Regina also won like six state championships in that time.

I was in Cowlumbus for several of Regina's championships and they were arguably the best team all divisions most years. Some years no argument was necessary. They out-recruited all divisions (oops, that's not nice).

I'm sure schools like Regina who I've heard about a lot are the eceptions rather than the rule. Yeah, I"m aware of D.II and III schools who dominate in Div.1 schools in their area and have top tier players on their squads.

Division I College recruits at the HS level are the exception not the rule. I think the AAU summer programs have helped the college coaches tremendously to identify the top athletes/players from all levels regardless of who they play for during the winter. Quite honestly the summer competition is better for top players than any Division I HS league/conference in NW Ohio. Not only is the competition better but the girls are playing more games, logging more minutes in the summer than they could possibly get in the 20 game regular season plus at most 8 tournament games.

Berlin Hiland in Holmes County puts a great team on the floor almost every year and they are a small school...possibly D 3? Don't know for sure.

Hiland is Division IV.
