First Chance to See...

...the ladies in person tonight. Sitting in the MAC Center at Kent State tonight I had a ouple of thoughts:
* It's hard to believe how bad the Kent women's progam has fallen off. I know they have some injuries and the roster is down to 8 palyers dressed, but this doesn't look like the same Bob Lindsay-led program of a couple of years ago.
* BG freshmen don't play like freshman. Prochaska, Murdaugh, Uhl and Albert are foundation blocks for the next three years of this program.
* Kate Acther has a slightly different role this year. Last year with all the seniors getting the attention of defenses, she seemed to be more agressive on offense. This year her role seems to be more setting up the younger players and getting them into the offense. It will be interesting to see if they get in a tight game whether she'll take over with the ball in her hands.
* Tracy Pontius has some work to do to become the quarterback of this team next year. She seems a little tentative and needs to pick up her shooting ability. I know she's just a freshman and will grow into the role, but we have been spoiled by Kate the last four years.
* Breske is the real deal. Really smooth around the basket. Will be matched up against taller players all year. A team with a good inside post player will probably have some sucess against us down the line.
* Whitney Taylor can shoot a little. Warming up at half time I didn't see here miss a three point shot. She must have taken about 8-10 shots warming up. Just one of those nights for her.
