BG wins BiG as Kate scored 24 and Whitney had 6 on Senior Day. 74-47. BG wins their 8th game in a row.

Falcons improve to 23-6, 12-3 and gain the #1 seed for the Tourney!!!

Fantastic season thus far by Coach Miller and the Ladies! Fitting on Senior Night for our two Seniors to go out with a lopsided win!

Just for reference, the last senior class went 11-5 their freshman year in conference. This group is going to be scary good.

It means this freshman class is better at this point, technically, than the class of Mann, Horn, Honegger and Thorburn were when they were freshmen.

Connect the dots, and you have a group that could potentially tops what Mann/Horne/Honnegger/Thorburn did.

I agree we will see lots of results from this current group, but I think the leadership of Achter should not be underplayed. With winning 3 POWs this year, her influence has certainly been the tipping point in many wins this season. Let's hope that she has helped to cultivate the next leaders so that when she steps off the floor (in 10 games ) the gap will be quickly filled. Next season will be the true test of these girls on their own.

Radioactive, you are absolutely correct. If this season has taught us anything, its that we have a very talented team, mostly of young players. But it also speaks volumes about Achter's leadership. As good as Mann, Honneger, Horne, and the others were, Achter was the leader and the glue of that team. Without her skills and leadership, that team most likely doesn't win their first round match with Oklahoma State, much less their 2nd round heavyweight fight vs Vanderbilt.

I have a feeling that the team might struggle early next year with Achter's departure, but the team should settle in a bit toward conference play. Maybe Pontius or somebody else will step in at PG and completely surprise me and we'll start out 10-0 or something like that, but somehow I doubt that. 13-3 in conference though, I'd say that's easily within range.

First things first though, it's time for the 4-PEAT!!!

I agree with all that's been said about Kate & her leadership. Also I'd like to predict that Kate remains an influence on the team by becoming a graduate assistant coach. We haven't had one in a long time if ever. She will also work with the team in the off season, I hope. Please allow Tracy to find her way @ point rather than asking her to fill Achter's shoes. That's a tall order. Kate is Kate She will be missed but other will bring the fire. Plus didn't we recruit a point?

Kate is obviously a big piece of the puzzle and replacing her leadership on and off the floor will be close to impossible. However, on an admittidly smaller scale, people were saying the same things about Lindsay Austin when she graduated. She was a senior point gaurd who was the heart and soul of the team, willing her squad into the championship game of the MAC tournament when the program was first getting established.

We will never really 'replace' Kate just as we could never replace the four seniors that preceeded her, but the program will find new stars to carry on the tradition just like what has occured this year.

Kate is definately hard to replace. However a lot of us are forgetting aboutthe man in charge. Miller is a truly great coach and I wish I could have played for at least one person like him in my years as an athlete. Kate's departure will not be as rough as we are thinking so long as Miller is at the helm.
