According to a unnamed source, BG should be playing Women's Basketball
on Wednesday or Thursday next week. IMO we should be playing @ home with the attendance we've had all season home & away. So keep your ears open after the NCAA selection show on Monday.
b ready 2 hit the road or get off work or just drive 2 2A the house that roars---------JUST BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BG BG 8) 8) 8)
GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WNIT is sponsored by Triple Crown Sports. We have history with them.
How ? They sponsored the Cancun Classic we played in last year. We had the largest fan turn-out for that tournament too. We just like to follow the BG Falcons especially this team. IMO we have a home game although @ the site www.womensnit.com we aren't listed as an automatic yet (9:50 am Sunday) Guess it's midnight Monday before we know 4 sure like Freak said.

I would pretty much feel snubbed without an NIT home game. After the season we had with mostly freshman, and with one of the best players in the country in Kate, I would be irritated to see us traveling. On the other hand I won't be that mad cause we could just be sitting at home doing nothing like a lot of other schools. There's still a VERY outside chance for us at the NCAA tourney also.
I am praying for a home game. I really hope that it is on Wednesday also. I am flying in with my girlfriend for my brothers wedding in Columbus this coming weekend, and you know I will drag her to BG if we get the home game. We get in at around 2:30 Wednesday, so that would give us plenty of time to get our car, check in at the hotel, and get to BG for the game. I can't wait to see the bracket come out, and have BG playing at home. It has been over 8 years since I have been inside AA, and to see the women play is going to be great. We all know that Women's basketball is what I do.

Sue,
I wonder if the REASON we aren't on this list yet is because of an OUTSIDE chance that we could land an NCAA bid...admittedly, not likely, even according to Curt....but wouldn't THAT be really neat?
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

I bet our chances at a at-large NCAA Tourney berth is probably in single digits. I would be estatic if we somehow got one but I don't think it will happe. A WNIT home game would be awesome , and do deserve one at the very least.
I'm sure the only reason that we aren't on the list of automatic qualifiers for the WNIT is the outside chance of a tournament bid. I know it's not likely, but I bet that there is someone on the NCAA selection committee that is bringing up BG as a possible at-large. It's really is hard to ignore 25 wins, ad that to the success of last years team, and I would imagine that there is at least a little consideration. That is also why the WNIT hasn't added BG to the automatic list, I'm sure. Just call this an expert OPINION.

Hey, I'm sure hoping the committee is looking at BG body of work the last 3 years as well as our 25 wins as a reason to give us a chance. I guess we'll have to check out the women's ncaa selection show to find out , I guess its on after the men here on espn or espn2. FWIW, Charlie Creme no longer has us on his bracketology list, but I guess that's to be expected but I also noticed that Miami(OH) wasn't on there either or at least I didnt' see them.
Too bad BG's strong showing of going to the NCAA tournament over the past three years doesn't garner them any respect of getting back in. 25-7 and not getting to go to the NCAA tournament is a crying shame.

Time will tell on where we go NCAA or WNIT----it's just fun to be able to type that We will play whereever they want us. W. Lafayette, IN anybody 4 NC's or home 4 WNIT. Just watch the show Monday see what happens ---we could get a higher seed than mu who knows Patience we don't have-- we fans just want 2 see more WB BG style. 8)
Ok, I have done a little research into our chances at an at-large, and they are better than some might think. Taking into the consideration that the power conferences get sometimes more than they should, I have us with a better than expected chance. Here is the rundown that I have. Mr. Creme doesn't even have us on his radar, but he is off with a couple about three of the teams in my mind. Here we go:
Automatic Bids with a * next to regular season champs
Bucknell, Chattanooga*, Cleveland St., UConn*, Cornell*, Coppin St., East Tenn. St*, Fresno, Hartford*, Illinois St.*, Jackson St., Liberty*, Marist*, Miami Oh, Montana*, Murray St., New Mexico, North Carolina*, ODU, Oral Roberts, Purdue, Robert Morris, San Diego, SMU, Stanford*, Texas A&M, UTSA, UCSB*, West. Kentucky*, Xavier, Tennessee
Bids by conference:
A-10
GW (25-6 12-2)
ACC
Maryland (10-3), Duke (23-9 10-4), Virginia (23-9 10-4)
Mountain West
Utah (27-4 16-0), TCU (21-11 13-3), Wyoming (24-6 12-4)
Big 12
K State (21-9 13-3), Baylor (24-6 12-4), Ok St (25-7 11-5), Oklahoma (21-8 11-5)
Big East
Rutgers (24-6 14-2), West Virginia (24-7 12-4), ND (23-8 11-5), Cuse (22-8 10-6), Louisville (24-9 10-6), Pitt (22-10 10-6)
Pac 10

OSU (22-8 13-5), Iowa (21-10 13-5), Minnesota (20-11 11-7) Mich St. (19-13 10-8)
C-USA
UTEP (27-3 16-0)
Horizon
UWGB (26-5 17-1)
That puts me at 28 bids. Mr. Creme has a few teams I can't justify giving a bid to over BG based on record. He has Iowa St., Depaul, Georgia Tech, and Texas all in ahead of BG.
My bubble teams for those 6 remaining bids are BG, Auburn, VCU, Gonzaga, Boise, Nebraska, Temple, Texas. I am finding very reasonable to think that BG has a chance at a bid right now. We are right on the bubble in my estimation. I can see getting Auburn and Temple in before us. Texas has a 21-12 OOC that was pretty easy when you talk about big conference standards, and they are 7-9 in the conference. But they do have wins over Baylor, Oklahoma and Ok. St. I don't know, it's going to be close. What we have going for us this year over other years is previous tournament experience and a sweet 16 run.
I would love for us to get in. Not gonna happen. We have 2 things going for us. A nice record and a strong finish. We have a ton going against us. Not a single RPI top 50 win. Only 1 top 100 RPI win (Miami). Only 1-4 against the RPI top 100. We only played 5 games against the top 100. That means our record will get minimized by the committee. A loss outside the top 200, and 2 more losses outside the top 100. An RPI of 63.
Our profile just isn't strong at all this year. I'm sure the staff will ramp up the scheduling over the course of the next few years, so we'll have more chances to build our profile with an experienced team. Hopefully we can make some noise in the WNIT to get some nice momentum for the offseason.
