Big problems for the Akron Zips..

I didn't know if I should post this here or the other schools forum...

Coach Kest says two starters broke rules. Another moves home. Two reserves quit...

It isn't pretty over here in the Kangaroo Pouch. Kest is determined to build a winner.

Wow - those are some huge losses. That would be like us losing Achter before last year, and then Prochaska, Golds, and Breske right now.

They are in some serious trouble for next year.

And we thought it was bad here with two leaving. See we just don't know what changes are in store.

I was told last winter by someone who "knows" from her high school, that Miller was interested in transfering to Bowling Green! The Akron/Sylvania pipeline!! :-D

I'd take her in a heartbeat. After hearing the good reviews McCoy's character has received in her time here, and the rash of Kest/player clashes now, I'm starting to believe the problem might be more on the coaches end than the players. I know Kest gets high praise from the coaching community, but is she losing control over there?

Wow, thats interesting. Riana Miller would certainly provide some nice post depth but overall talent wise I'm not sure she's worthy of schollie yet. Maybe others who know more about her can tell us more about her skills but for someone who passes the look test athletically she never impressed me in all the games I saw her play us in. If Miller is to hand out a transfer schollie I want it to go to a top notch player and someone that could come in and possibly start or contribute right away. Its possible Riana could do this but who knows. Coach Miller has a ton of things to weigh in here if transfers start calling us.

It doesn't take much time to take them off the University web sites roster.
By my count, that leaves only 6 returning players if those listed as SR's all have finished eligibility.

You know what that means, they get into foul trouble at all and its time for Coach Gene Hackman to tell the ref that their team is on the floor.

Well, judging by the way things have gone over at UA in recent years, losing those players could be addition by subtraction if they find some warm bodies to replace them. At the very least, Kest could show that coaching prowess is making the team better, not talent.

Wow, I can't believe how ridiculous that post sounds. Akron sucks.

I have to stick up for Jodi. She is a coaching friend of mine, and we don't know what was going on. Sometimes when a new coach comes in, things get rough before they get better. She pushes players to work hard, and some kids who think they are working hard, might not be working as hard as they think they are. I don't know the situation, but she is only in her second year there, and I think things will get better. She stills has two very talented freshman coming back, they have six total on their roster left, and they have four incoming freshman. And let's not go too hard on the Akron sucks thing, because I sent my resume to her today before I read all of this. I talked to her at the final four, and she said she might have a position for me. We'll see. She is a very good coach, and she will turn that program around.

HF,

Good post. I think Kest is determined to build a winner and the Akron program has not had much success over the years. She needs to get rid of that losing mentality. That doesn't happen overnight....it will be interesting to see what happens. Best of luck with your resume!

Didn't she recruit most or all of those kids she booted? I can see running people off from the prior staff, but if you're losing that many kids when you were the one who recruited them....something isn't right...

Sounds like a former BG mens coach.
