Chrissy Steffen of Carmel, IN is picking right up where she left off last year for the defending state champ Greyhounds. She is a scorer- a real pure shooter.

Her team is 5-1 losing last time out to rival Hamilton Southeast. Carmel was third ranked in the state and Southeast fourth at the game's start. Steffen got in immediate foul trouble and ended with only 11 points and six boards as she fouled out.

In her other five starts (many blow out wins with minutes tempered), she has averaged 21 points per game. She has 16 threes in the six games and has big rebounding numbers as well. In one game she recorded six steals.

NE Ohio recruit Jesse Tamerlano is averaging 17 points for her 1-1 North Royalton team. They put up a good fight is losing their opener to a very strong Shaker Heights team as Jesse had 20.

Those of us in NW Ohio can keep close tabs on big recruit A Papenfuss at Anthony Wayne.

Go Falcons!

That's my alma mater!

Jesse's got a sister in my grade named Jackie; not sure if she still plays basketball, but she was pretty damn good in high school. (edit) Actually Jackie Tamerlano is on the BG Women's Soccer team. I Didn't know that!

Simone Eli, locally from Genoa HS, is averaging 27.3 ppg, 6.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. Genoa is off to a 3-0 start as they beat Otsego last night 57-55 after being down by 13 points in the 4th quarter.

Just think, she is coming to BG as a walk-on. When you can have someone like this playing for you as a walk-on, that is impressive.

On another note, the girl from Anthony Wayne, Paffenfus (sp), has yet to play this year due to a stress fracture.

With the talent we have returning next year, and these 2 local girls, both of which are less than 20 miles from BG, I can see an increase in attendance from the local high schools.

Chrissy Steffen continues to play very well for her number 9 ranked Carmel IN Greyhounds. They are 9-2. Her last two times out, she scored 20 points in each game. She had a total of 9 threes in the two games and 12 rebounds in one of them.

They play in a tough region and face some very good opposition. Of course, some games are blow outs which limit her minutes.

North Royalton's Jesse Tamerlano has helped her team to a 3-2 start and scored 15 in her last game versus a very tough Solon team.

Go Falcons!
