BG looked in near mid-season form as they beat St. Bonaventure today by a score of 77-59. They are now on a 7 game winning streak.

Fans seem unimpressed with the way this team dismatles the opposition. Get off your bottoms folks and make some noise!
Coach Clawson got a good reception at halftime, especially when he said the team would make fans proud of them off the field ----

Yeah, that is truly one of the more disappointing aspects of the crowd that do show up. Many of the students that do show up , be they university or HS students seem to show almost no emotion or interest in the game even though we're kicking butt. I don't if its because they have no idea who the hell St. Bonaventure is , have no idea that they just beat a pretty decent ranked opponent in MSU or what. Its frustrating to say the least. Even when we are going on an exciting run , virtually no one behind the standing students on the sideline moves a muscle. I can understand not getting worked into a frenzy after we've built up a monstrous lead but there were times where our lead was in doubt a few times. I wonder how many rowdy students showed up to the ND hockey game this past weekend but have never ever been to a women's basketball game. Its pitiful but what can you do.

I have been sitting in the same seat in AA for over 15 years....even in the years when there were no fans, and there were only two of us in the entire section!
These days, I have plenty of company, but today there was an old fart behind me who kept complaining because when we would hit a three pointer, I would stand and cheer! He asked me to keep seated! I said "you have to be kidding me! This is a basketball game!" He said he had paid for his seat, and expected to be able to see the game while sitting in it! I told him I had paid for the seat I was in too (as well as both of the seats on either side of me), and that I would suggest he NEVER buy the seat he was in again!
What an AZZ!

I don't want to sound like I don't want the "old farts" of BG to come to the games but we've got to get more of the younger crowd into AA for these games who are more likely to get into the games vocally. I would suffice it to say that the townies have done their job mostly and are coming out. Its the paltry student attendance that baffles me. Sometimes it just seems as though the only ones making any noise to help the atmosphere of the game and to spur on the team is the sideline students , if more than 3 or 4 even show up.

Hey, watch who you call an "old fart".

There are several of us up behind the standing students who are louder than they are. We can be heard even though we don't stand up. Standing does not equal noise, unless you're farting in unison. We apprieciate all of the help with the BGSU cheer & we join in all the other ones. Stop criticizing what you have because Coach Miller, Coach Roos and the team have made it well know how much they like the fans. As for getting more students to show up, even Tennessee has problems with that. It's the nature of women's basketball & society's view of women in sport.

Go BG!!! Roll Along. BG _ _.

For the record.....I'm a proud AARP card carrier. My use of the term "old fart" was not intended to criticize the age of any fan!!!!
It was used to describe a grumpy man whose enthusiasm and desire to cheer did not include moving anything except his lips!
Hopefully, he'll never sit behind me again, but if he does, I'll have to explain what it means when a coach flaps his/her arms with palms upright.
I'm not a fan of standing up the whole game, but I do get excited and jump out of my seat for 3 point shots, assists to a wide open post and all the other exciting type plays that are so fun to watch.
We love all the fans, even the ones that just want to sit...........even if what comes out of their lips makes them AZZ's!

WBBFAN the old fart comment wasn't directed at your post. It was a comment to Falconboy's post. We've been through this cheering discussion before and we probably won't change anyone's mind. But we will cheer until we are hoarse. GO BG !!!! BG __ ROLL ALONG.

I knew that Sue, but wanted to clarify before anyone else took it wrong!
Sure, we need the students, but having the community support is invaluable. I remember going to BG games at UT when UT was good quite a few years ago and being envious of their enormous fan base of senior citizens and non-students. And don't forget.......that's where ticket sales thrive and we make money. Our community fan base has grown significantly over the past few years, and that's a great thing.
BTW Falconboy......are you a Falcon Club Member? If not, I would like to sign you up! You can make monthly payments! It'll be the best investment you ever made!

From our trip to Notre Dame a few years back, I believe they had a lot of blue hairs in the stands
Looking forward to seeing you two old farts at hockey next Friday!

I agree, I hear lots of 'older' people who are more into the game then the students. I agree though, the students are pathetic. Even for men's BB they are nonexistent.
I think what we need is a genuine student section. The bleachers behind the south basket would be best, but what about the band? Honestly though, my high school team had more of a student section than BG does.
We need to get all the 'rowdy' people together in the same area, you know stand the whole game, chant, jump, yell, all that awesome stuff that is college basketball anywhere but BG. Then more people will join in. We just need a designated spot. I see lots of excited students but we are spread out, so why not bring us together? It would avoid the akward stares I get from adults in the "STUDENT" section.
But so far i've been really disappointed. I was so excited to see some D I college BB, but I prefer my HS games over ours

Until Curt Miller stops talking about how the crowd is great during every home postgame news conference I will say nothing bad about the crowd. If the head coach thinks the crowd was great then the crowd was great.

And personally I have no problem with you Sue or anyone else being louder then me or anyone else who is standing. You put it best saying standing doesn't equal noise, hell sometimes I just want to stand and focus on the game and let everyone else make the noise for me

Road games though its a different story, I love getting loud in someone else's house

I don't usually go to Women's Hoops but yesterday I went because I graduated from St. Bonaventure but work at BGSU. I really enjoyed the game and thought the crowd was great. The band was AWESOME, they really rock especially that kid playing bass. I really enjoyed the whole experience.
