yeah... about that officiating... I'm a licensed high school basketball referee and while there are some minor rule changes, the major rules are still the same in college and the referees did a horrible job tonight. 3 seconds was never called (although 3 seconds resets every time a shot is attempted), palming/carrying was ridiculously bad, they made calls out of position, make-up calls, terrible no-calls, and what was with that technical? I was sitting right behind the BG bench and Curt wasn't saying anything when he was given that T... If there is one thing I learned from becoming an official, it is this: if you have to give a technical to the coaches, you are not in control of the game - and that was blatantly obvious. Those three were clueless tonight.

Congratulations to the women for fighting through it and winning the game! You played well and let's keep the winning streak going! Beat SIU-Edwardsville!!!

GO FALCONS!

Anyone know the reason(s) why a technical was given to BG during Sunday's game vs. GW? More of the same with officiating issues?

That's possible, that is an automatic T if a referee hears it. I've given one T for foul language in my officiating career (5 years). Actually it's the only T I've given. It is difficult to hear a lot of crap when you're on the floor, but that ref was right next to the bench when he gave it. Regardless, they did a terrible job and I hope there was an observer there watching them so they'll get reprimanded.

I have seen bad calls in a game, but these guys were just plain BAD, all the way thru. I thought the older guy, or at least the one with the least hair, wasn't too bad but the other two were just plain horrible thru out the entire game. That stretch when we went up 13-14 in the second half and they just decided they had to even up the game, and blew 4-5 straight bad calls on BG was absolutely BLATANT. They were bad both ways, but that stretch was completely out of line and I agree that they should, at a minimum be reprimanded. The tall cury headed guy made the all-time list of BAD officials! :smt078

I completely agree. He was definitely the worst of the bunch... The older guy wasn't so bad, in fact for a while I was pretty impressed with how he handled his partners' incompetency - then he "gave in" to their mediocrity.

This was an entertaing, well-played game from start to finish. Pontius' ability to penetrate was the difference in the game. She scored and created many opportunities for her teammates too. BG's quickness negated UD's size advantage. BG just seemed to out-hustle UD to every loose ball. Coach Miller really has the ladies playing well right now.
