Jesse Tamerlano has continued to perform well for North Royalton. She has been around the 22-23 point mark in most every game and recently put up 27 in a loss to Hudson. Her team is 11-8 on the year.
C Steffen's Carmel team plays in one of the toughest leagues/areas for girl's basketball in the Midwest. Carmel is in the tourney and plays a big game tonight against Fishers- a team they lost to in the regular season in a close game. They are 17-4. Chrissy's team is well balanced. The most impressive thing I observe about Steffen is the way she plays against the really excellent teams. She has had super games versus nationally ranked Ben Davis and powerful Terra Haute South.
A Papenfuss- perhaps one of our most important recruits- has been out with the lower leg injury suffered earlier. I know the local BG fans have missed watching her at Anthony Wayne. Just too bad for the Generals, but I am sure Alison will recover fully and be a real contributor at BG.
Some very good players added in this group.

I think this is Papenfuss' second major injury this year- anyone know if that's correct? I believe she was injured at the start of the season, missed some games, came back and got injured again very quickly. The Generals were counting on a big year this year but have had to go nearly the whole season wiothout Papenfuss.falconfan1 wrote:

I only wish that we'd be able to get some true size in the middle of our lineup...posted this on another thread earlier, but how good could this team be with a real stopper/rebounder in the middle? Know of any 6'4" girls who'd like to become Falcons?

I got this information secondhand, but think it is accurate. Alison Papenfuss' injury is the same one all year. I was told she has a stress fracture, tried to come back, and it was decided to shut her down again. During the telecast of the General's game with Perrysburg, the announcers said they were told she may be able to return for the end of the season (tournament games).
Watch Steffen finish a fastbreak:
Go to WTHR.com and scroll through the video player on the top right. It should be the on the second page, it's the "Operation Basketball" clip.
She's about a minute in, at the end of the Carmel-Westfield highlights.

T'would be nice, but 6'4" girls that can play don't come to BG, at least not yet. There might be 10 of them out there in any given year, and they all go to UNC, UConn, Duke, Tennessee, etc. We'll have to keep winning with what we can get, which isn't all bad.Class of 61 wrote:FF1,falconfan1 wrote:Jesse Tamerlano has continued to perform well for North Royalton. Roll Along!
I also think Curt likes an athletic center. He'd rather sacrifice some height for quickness. Maybe that's out of necessity because he can't find one, I am not sure?
If you find a 6'4" girls player that is athletic, you're right...she ain't coming to a MAC school. I think you can find plenty of 6'3" and 6'4" players out there but they are plodders and Curt's offensive style doesn't really fit that.

61, as posted above, those really big girls are tough to locate that a. want to get BG on their short list and b. are athletic enough for our system. I think a good example of a bigger kid who met those two requirements would be 6'4" Casey Nance/Revere. She decided on Dayton. Sometimes you just miss out for one reason or another.
But there aren't many.
Now Papenfuss (h2o it is the same injury/not a second one/she will recover) is a 4/5 with excellent strength. Yes she may be around that 6'0- 6'1 mark but she has a bull like attitude and has the potential to be a very, very good interior type player. With a solid mid range game. Just the kind of kid we have won MAC titles with.

From what I hear she injuried it at the start of the season and came back to try and play but reinjuried it... And yes the Generals were hoping on a BIG season...h2oville rocket wrote:I think this is Papenfuss' second major injury this year- anyone know if that's correct?
