Since the whole section on the east side of the arena is general admission, there really isn't a student section. Standing up & jumping I think started on the east or west coast. Standing doesn't equal noise. Standing shows support. Sometimes it equals a bad seat for the people who also paid money to see the game.

When the coaches raise their arms IMO they are asking for the crowd to get louder rather than stand up---but you'll need to ask them.

Being upstairs we can't hear what you are shouting----will try to join in at the appropriate spot.
I'll stand & shout for a good play but stay in my seat so people can see over me---five feet tall so most people could see anyway.
The voice is known----just keep on being verbal ----postive please
