SIMONE ELI
I don't have the stats in front of me but Simone Eli, BG walk-on recruit from Genoa, is the top scoring player in NW Ohio. Last week she scored 66 points in 2 wins, including a 3/4 court shot at the buzzer.
Also named Athlete of the Week for Ch 13 and Ch 24, as well as Blade Athlete of the week 3 weeks ago.
It is amazing that we can get players like this to come to BG and she will not even be on scholorship next year. It is amazing what Curt Miller is doing with this program.

Eli was recruited and offered scholorships from others D1 schools. She wants to play for BG! I think it is great when players want to play for a program and willing to pay their own ride. After a year or two maybe she can get a scholorship. And as the previous poster said, the other transfers are not on scholly either. No disregard to Golds because it is going to be tough to replace probably the winningest athlete in MAC history but this team willl be even stronger next year!!! Can you imagine that!!!
I am sure Coach Miller will have a more challenging preseason schedule next year.

Does anyone have a clue as to what D1 schools offered Eli? I think its amazing what Miller has done for this program that quality kids want to come and pay their way to just to play for us.gmartin wrote:Eli was recruited and offered scholorships from others D1 schools. Yeah, Curt is going to have a hard time figuring out where he's gonna put players at next year. If I was to guess , I'd say our starting lineup would look something like this.
Pontius-PG
Prochaska-SG/SF
Nurse-SG/PG
McCoy-PF/SF
Breske-C
If one of our other posts really steps up and demands a starting spot then that could open up the PF spot for Breske , that would make McCoy our SF, LP the 2 and so on. All I can say is we look beastly next year as our depth looks sick.

We have 2 6'2 girls on the roster with Albert and Geise, but if your talking in the 6'4 range I won't disagree we could use one. Geise actually looks to have a bigger upside than Albert at this point but Albert has improved some. I'm even partial to Zuercher over Albert as well as she much more aggressive in the post as Albert seems to be too passive. I'm not sure what our rebounding problem stems from. I don't think its size though. It is interesting that our leading rebounder isn't Breske or McCoy but Prochaska.Slugathor wrote:We still need a Big! Might help with the rebounding problem.
