OTHER MAC WBB NEWS!

Post by jburket »

Kent State LOSES to Ohio tonight, and (brace yourself): Miami LOSES to Akron as well. HOLEY MOLEY!! That HAS to be mighty PAINFUL for both teams as they seek to gain second place in the division to earn the first-round bye tournament time!! Kent State will be H-U-N-G-R-Y on Saturday. (Of course, what team HASN'T been when they've played us?!)

Actually, these developments really hurt us. Kent is probably going to fall out of the top 100 of the RPI now, which leaves us with only 4 RPI top 100 victories this season instead of 5 (and probably 6). Miami was up there earlier this year, but they have fallen off the map completely. Our 87-79 win over them at AA earlier this year was the beginning of the end for them.

What I'd like to know is why does the 2nd place East team get a bye in the women's tournament if their record is worse than the 3rd place team from the West? It doesn't work that way for the men's tourney (thank god, because the West is HORRIBLE for men)
