Why do they need to crash? Why can't they just reload? Good for Miller to show that you don't have to wait every other year.. or every third year to get your team to succeed... I hope that BG appreciates Curt... give him some fat bonuses and keep him in BG.
Success... breeds more success... hence the Women's program continued dominance.
I'd rather have a winner than a loser...
The writer is wrong on all accounts, and in reality this story for this team may even be better if they can repeat the performance from two years ago.

Hoping for them to lose any game seems pretty dumb to me. The whole overconfidence/pressure of perfection argument is massively overblown. The way Curt Miller talks up all of our opponents, I don't think it's a problem.
Also, if we do make the tourney, we'll be playing the underdog card as hard as we can for every game we play. At that point, cocky doesn't even make it through the door. Confidence is very important for this team. If it weren't, they wouldn't be running off a streak like this.

A loss is not what this team needs. All of this BS about needing to lose to regain your focus is bull. If that were the case, Geno and Pat would be hoping for a loss every year around this time, so that when they get into the NCAA tournament they understand they are beatable. I ask, why can't you sustain the type of program that wins year in and year out. You don't always have to fall to the point of being a middle of the pack team just because you lost a few players here and there to graduation. It is about the kids you recruit, and the system you play. Connecticut was crap before Geno got there, and they haven't had to "rebuild". Kansas State and Iowa State are two teams that get similar players as BG, and they are consistently in the top 25 and battling at the top of the Big 12. They don't have great recruiting bases or names to use, but they keep it going all the time. That is what I believe BG can do. These close games are enough to keep the team focused and understand they are beatable, and we shouldn't have to rebuild every three years or so to stay at the level we are now.

You don't think 3 overtime wins against mediocre teams reminds them they're beatable? People make way too much about the psychology of winning vs. losing. The team isn't thinking about anything else in any game except winning that game. You honestly think that Pontius is more likely to make a 3 in the closing minutes in the MACC game if we lose this weekend? She'll be ready to fire a big 3 and think to herself "man, we lost to kent state back in February - I better hit this." I think it's all crap. Win. Every. Nobility is a word that through my studies at BGSU has become very important to me. A great teacher of mine once defined nobility for us as being better than we used to be. Very simple to understand, and after a certain point extremely difficult to achieve. I believe this team is an extremely noble group of young ladies led by an even more noble man. Every day they better themselves in what they do be it gymnasium or classroom. A loss would do nothing to further their noble causes and probably set them all back. This team thrives on the success of being better every day than they were the day before. I believe a "crash loss" would cause them to doubt their nobility and bring them "crashing" down.

I think a loss is not in our best interest just for the simple reason that a loss might mean a blow to our NCAA tournament hopes. At this point I think we're pretty much in so long as we don't lose to somebody really bad, like Ohio the last home game of the season, or to somebody in the MAC quarterfinals. We're lucky we got through our last game because a loss to Buffalo and their 281 RPI would have been DEVASTATING.
Our current RPI is 43. That's still somewhat borderline for an at-large bid, but when you throw in the record on top of that we're in good shape.

It's Sussman. Try to laugh at most of it, ignore the rest. Or ignore it all.
Personally, I thought the video game analogy was pretty damn amusing. These ladies make it look too easy, even when they're struggling with a team like Buffalo.

"Ladies, it is way too boring to coach you in these easy wins. We need to find more creative ways of winning. So, from now on, we will only take half court shots for the first 2 minutes of the game. That way, if we hit one, that will be exciting, and then when we come from behind to win, it'll be even more exciting."
