Syracuse routed Canisius 90-65 tonight, so it looks like there will be a lot of orange in Anderson on Sunday.
GO FALCONS!

Checking up on the 'Cuse, they don't have a great record at all (16-14) but they appear to have a lot of athletic talent especially at the post. They won't be too much taller than us but they will be way more athletic.

How do you beat size? With quickness and good shooting! With the team Coach Miller has assembled, I like our chances!

Some interesting stats to digest with an "Orange":
Of their 18-14 record:
THREE of their losses were by ONE point;
THREE of their losses were by TWO points; and
ONE of their losses was by FOUR points.
But then, they also lost to Connecticut by FIFTY-FOUR points.
(Of course, WHO DIDN'T this year?)

Syracuse is going to be a tough game for us I think. I watched them a couple of times at the beginning of the year, and they have some pretty good talent. They just don't have enough talent yet to win a lot of games in the Big East. I don't know how we are going to do, but I wish I could be there.

You can beat size with great quickness but I wouldn't say we have great quickness on our team at least not yet. Syracuse will have us beat in that dept in spades. The size difference I'm don't thing is all that big IMO from what I saw of the roster. Unless some of their 6'2 girls play 3 or 4 I wouldn't worry that too much. Its their athleticism is what we should worry about mainly. I could see an absolute drubbing on the boards if we aren't careful.

I think a 54 point loss to Connecticut counts as close this year

Ohio played Syracuse at the Carrier Dome in December and lost 67-62. The Orange weren't a huge team, but they had a lot of depth. They pretty much fired up shots at the first chance, and got a lot of them up (74) but only shot 28% overall, and 12% (3-25) from 3. Ohio outrebounded them by 10, but gave up a lot of points off turnovers. Syracuse showed a good press in the second half, and had 17 steals overall.
Syracuse isn't always going to shoot that poorly -- they hit 50% against Canisius -- but I think BG has a good chance at winning the game. If the week off has restored the shooting form of Prochaska and Pontius, I'm looking for an NIT win for the MAC.
