Just listening to Curt Miller's post game following Oakland U. and he mentioned an injury suffered by Tara Breske. He fears it is serious, adding "we'll say our prayers and hope she's not done for the year."
Damn.
Also mentioned that there is a diagnosis for Prochaska's illness so it can now be treated and she can get healthier.

Re: Breske Injury
From Curt on Twitter: "Knee injuries are reality but when they happen to Seniors it is just cruel."
Bummer.

Re: Breske Injury
Damn. Was so hoping not to hear injury news again. For Breske this especially hurts. Pray that this isn't too serious and Breske can come back cuz we need her. Zuercher Geise, and Albert are gonna have to step up.

Re: Breske Injury
The one thing we can hope for is that Curt is exaggerating. He's done this every now and then, where he'll say something in his postgame interview about a kid being injured before he knows for sure how bad the injury might be. The fact that he posted something on Twitter today (the day after, as opposed to immediately after the game) worries me, though. Usually, you can tell a lot more about ACL injuries the next day. I hope Curt is wrong about this, but it doesn't sound good.

Not sure why you think he'd be exaggerating re: a player's injury... Tara didn't play in the last game...we haven't heard any updates re: her situation...but it's a critical loss if she misses most/or all of the year... Fortunately, I think Jen Uhl is capable of stepping in and filling that role; hopefully, some of the other "true" centers on the team can step up their games to help out.

After the UNC-G game, Miller said that there was still no definite diagnosis. If I recall, he said they hoped that a return trip to the doctor in 10 days to two weeks would provide a better idea of what she is dealing with.

Re: Breske Injury
It was more wishful thinking than anything else. I have no concrete evidence to support this, but I feel like Miller has said things like this in postgame interviews every now and then, when he feared the worst but maybe didn't yet have all the information. Obviously, Tara hasn't played in the last 2 games, so there's clearly an injury there, but hopefully she will be able to return soon.Class of 61 wrote:Not sure why you think he'd be exaggerating re: a player's injury... It'd be great to win every game, but there are no 'must-win' games until Jan. 6. If Tara misses the next 8 games but is healthy for the MAC schedule, I'll take that.

While there are no "must win" games before Jan 6th, one of the two games against RPI higher rated teams, either Vandy or Hartford ought to be in the resume if the women expect to get any favorable consideration in post season play.

Re: Breske Injury
I've resigned myself to the MAC being a one-bid league every year. So really, the only 'must win' games are from March 6-13 (or whatever the dates of the MAC Tournament might be). Although if they want to improve the RPI, a win at Vandy is a great way to start!HoopsFan wrote:While there are no "must win" games before Jan 6th, one of the two games against RPI higher rated teams, either Vandy or Hartford ought to be in the resume if the women expect to get any favorable consideration in post season play.
