The newest Bracket from Jerry Palm is out. He has us placed at a #12 seed playing Georgetown, in Cincinatti. Possibly advancing to play Xavier in second round down in Cincy. I like the first round matchup but don't personally care about playing Xavier less than 10 minutes from its arena.

You may need to scroll down and select Bracket once on the site.

Two points.

Mr Palm's bracket is an excellent example that RPI is only one tool in the selection process. His last four in: Dayton, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Mississippi St. all have worse RPI numbers (Mr. Palm's RPI numbers) than Kansas and Marquette who he listed as "Close, but NIT (Not In Tournament)".

Three of his four 11 seeds are at-large teams. One 11 seed (Marist) and all of his 12 through 16 seeds are automatic bids. Putting us as a 12 seed means he currently doesn't rate us good enough for an at-large bid.

I should point out that Palm has always rated BG very low relative to everybody else. In his collegerpi numbers, BG was around 70th at last check, while in the realtimerpi, Sagarin, and Massey ratings, the Falcons clocked in between 35th and 49th.

Regardless, Palm probably isn't selling us too short though, Charlie Creme also had BGSU as a 12 seed last time around. My guess is that a victory over Toledo helps us, but the only way we go at large is if we win out all the way through the MAC regular season because even one loss is going to kill us because of how bad everybody else is. We were in the same position at this point last year, and ultimately it was our loss at Miami late in the season that killed us. If we don't lose again before the tournament, we will have collected three quality wins, against Vanderbilt, Eastern Michigan, and Toledo, and have amassed a 25-4 record without losing to any teams outside of the RPI top 100, and only one team outside of the top 50.

I went to college with Charlie Creme (St. Bonaventure University). Awesome guy and definitely likes the Lady Falcons.
